GFRN is considering several potential properties for a communal living situation focusing on a gluten free / Paleo lifestyle. What would you like & love to have available to you if you chose to live in such a community? How many other people? How big of a property? What would you like to have available? If you are interested, would you consider filling out a survey? Do you have any property you would consider donating to this endeavor?

Dinner number 2 at Nourish Sequim was, once again, notably excellent. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. While I ordered the best gf crab cakes and crème brûlée again (yum!) we opted for adding the focaccia bread, I had the super fresh salmon and Pete had the pork chop as entrees. They serve Ghostfish Brewing Company gf beer too, which is a Seattle based dedicated gf brewery. Nourish is the only dedicated restaurant in the area. Make a point of visiting Sequim, WA, at least to eat at Nourish.

Have you ever been to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington yet? Port Townsend? Sequim? Port Angeles? If you happen to come to the area, we highly recommend Nourish Sequim! The entry garden is lush & vibrant. The food is fantastic, fresh & locally sourced. Have you eaten at Nourish yet?
Yum!!

Traveling with Lark Ellen Farm Sweet & Salty Trail Mix. Yum! Not many gluten free food options here at the Chicago Midway Airport. Always be prepared. Lark Ellen Farm & Purely Sprouted are both independent, women-owned businesses (supporting!) that provide gluten free/Paleo (no grains) nutritious snack foods. What is your favorite? Order some today if you haven’t tried them yet.

May is Celiac Disease Awareness month. What are your plans to educate, inform and discuss celiac disease & all gluten related disorders (GRDs) with health care providers, friends and family? As always, Gluten Free RN will be advocating for mass screening for celiac disease & non-celiac gluten sensitivity, educating is available for consultations and speaking events.

29/04/2024

Showing up for yet another book & research meeting to discuss our celiac disease and gluten related disorders research project, preparing paper #1 for publication and submitted our abstract for the next International Celiac Disease Symposium in Sheffield, UK in September. This next book we are writing on celiac disease will finally make sense of celiac disease & all gluten related disorders. Stay tuned! Do you have any burning questions you want answered?

Burying your head in the dirt while truffle hunting is one thing. Burying your head in the dirt/sand when asked to test a patient for celiac disease or any gluten related disorder is negligent. Please get in the habit of testing every patient for celiac disease & have a high index of suspicion for all gluten related disorders. Do you test every patient for celiac disease? Did you have to demand testing for celiac disease for yourself or your family members? Millions of people, world 🌎wide remain undiagnosed.

Visited on my way home from Seattle yesterday. The fish & chips were amazing and the stout was rich & creamy. We will definitely be back for more. Who wants to meet me at Ghostfish BrewPub for a gluten free date?

Truffle hunting is work! Hazel Nut has the dirt balls to prove it. She did great today learning another skill finding truffles and digging holes. Huge thanks to Will Craigie for teaching us to truffle hunt with the big dogs!

Hazel Nut is not only a certified gluten detection service dog, but is learning to hunt for truffles with the experts! Lagotto Romagnolo dogs are truffle hunters and they are pretty darn good at finding troves of truffles. This was the truffle haul from today!

Had the opportunity to present this program to a fabulous audience today Center 50+ in Salem, Oregon! According to the organizer, my presentation received “Rave reviews” and there are requests to have me back for more healthy living lectures. There were so many great questions from the audience during and afterwards. What topics would you like to have presented? Do you know of a group that would be interested in a presentation such as this?

Review of celiac disease basics. Apparently, there are many health care providers STILL refusing to test patients for celiac disease. Have you had a hard time getting your doctors to order a full celiac antibody panel? Celiac genetic test? What has been your experience?

Found one of my favorite gluten free fabulous snacks at Newport Market in Bend, Oregon! Nutrient dense snacking makes good sense and tastes incredible. We ate the sweet & salty version with frozen blueberries 🫐 and coconut milk for dessert last night. YUM!We bought a stash to take home. Which is your favorite flavor?

This menu sounds amazing! Has anyone eaten here yet? Next time we are in Eugene, we will check it all out. Yum!!!

Braised Restaurant in Eugene is now dedicated gluten-free.

Spoke to the owner, Alan, who conducted a deep clean and as of January 1st had a dedicated GF food truck!

I asked all the questions! This is the real deal.

Their fryer had been dedicated GF for a while and Alan worked hard on a homemade GF bun as the commercial options are all expensive….as we know all too well! 😏

Thank you, Alan!

EvesCrackers are available and on sale now at Market of Choice in Oregon. I met Eve and her sister in Calgary at a Celiac conference a few years ago & love 💕 the crackers they created! The crackers are gluten free, vegan and dairy free. The savory sunflower 🌻 crackers are fabulous. Have you tried them yet?

Portland, Oregon is the home and headquarters of Ground Breaker Brewery, one of the only two gluten free breweries in the United States that are officially certified gluten free by Gluten Intolerance Group. All of their beers are fabulous. The dedicated gluten free food by is fantastic! Ground Breaker Brewing. My hands down favorite is Imperial Darkness Nitro when dining in with can to take home. What is your favorite?
