The dimensions on this beauty are 78 x 92“ so it’s really a nice size and the pattern works to turn it either direction.

This dated 1962 Quilt that is hand quilted and it’s appliquéd is ready to be enjoyed. So colorful with the deep purple shaded florals.
I’ve given this quilt a fresh wash and note one minor light age spot, so it’s fresh and clean.
There’s no wear or signs of use and I would say that Quilt was probably just stored and put up for the last 60 years .

Don’t you just love the colors of these two quilts both called Snowball quilts ,,, but I’ll define them a bit differently as many patterns are interchangeable..

🩷🩷🩷The Periwinke quilt on the right with a yellow backside .. $295.00 68x72 images 5,6,7,8,9.. some surface wear in some blocks, not perfect, but so pretty .

Super nice ,, minor color migration on some of the red blocks .. beautiful color and handwork. This is by far the larger of the 2.

Both quilts are in the first and last image.

Both quilts have been gently washed, both are hand quilted both, are circa 1930s .

I have more images I want to show that compares some of the blocks side-by-side of the different color ways and how close they are in colors, so they would actually make a great pair of quilts !!!

33rd Coast Artillery

We talk about quilts being important to what’s going on in the current time in history and how they relate to the environment at the time.

UPDATE : thanks to Sue Reich .. This circa 1940’s quilt is one made and fashioned after or similar to the Mountain Mist, Wings Over All pattern from the 1943 pattern to honor the Army Air Corps.

“The U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) was an administrative corps responsible for coastal, harbor, and anti-aircraft defense of the United States and its possessions between 1901 and 1950. The CAC also operated heavy and railway artillery during World War I.”

There is a lot of information about this division of the army online for further reading .

It’s a branch of the United States Army .
