Gluten free food that comes in a package or a box is not only still processed, but likely also contains high levels of glyphosate and pesticides.
Moms Across America has tested 46 samples of gluten-free foods, including bread, pasta, crackers, snacks, flour, dessert mixes, and chips for glyphosate/AMPA, 236 pesticides, minerals, and gluten.
Results of glyphosate and pesticides:
44 out of 46 of the samples came back positive for glyphosate.
Out of the 237 pesticides we tested for, glyphosate was the most prevalent.
Not all of the gluten-free products that were also organic were the lowest in glyphosate.
21% of the samples were positive for glyphosate at levels higher than 10 ppb, the EU threshold for acceptable glyphosate residues.
According to Don Huber, Purdue University Emeritus and plant pathologist of 60 years, exposure to .1 ppb of glyphosate is harmful and should be avoided. 95.6% of the samples contained higher than .1 ppb pf glyphosate.
Gluten-Free Food Test Results Moms Across America has tested 46 samples of gluten-free foods, including bread, pasta, crackers, snacks, flour, dessert mixes, and chips for glyphosate/AMPA, 236 pesticides, minerals, and gluten. The results are disturbing and affect at least 20 million people who eat gluten-free food in America.

Carnosine…a powerful nutrient that most have never heard of and everyone needs.
Carnosine is a natural antioxidant made up of two amino acids. One of its important functions is acting as a free radical scavenger. In addition to its impressive antioxidant properties, it’s also said to serve as a “physiological buffer” that plays a key role in proper enzyme and calcium regulation.
In the human body, concentrations of carnosine are greatest in muscle tissue. What is muscle carnosine? Since it is found in such high concentrations in the muscles, it’s sometimes referred to as muscle carnosine, but it can also be found in brain tissue, the heart, gastrointestinal tissues, and many other parts of the body. Carnosine, also known by many other names including L-carnosine and n-acetyl-carnosine, is considered a dipeptide. What’s a dipeptide? A simple dipeptide definition is an organic compound derived from two amino acids. Carnosine is synthesized in skeletal muscle from the amino acids’ histidine and beta-alanine. So, the body makes carnosine, and it can also be obtained through diet.
Potential carnosine benefits include the prevention and treatment of diabetic complications such as nerve damage, kidney problems and eye disorders like cataracts. Carnosine improves cognitive function and aids with depression, autism, enhance bioelectrical functions of organs, heart health and blood pressure, increased nootropic brain function, cardiovascular health, visual repair, telomere and DNA repair, and overall organ function! It is beneficial for all heart and blood sugar issues.
Another one of the top potential L-carnosine benefits is a reduction in the signs of aging. In fact, it’s sometimes referred to as the “longevity molecule.” It is also known to boost stamina and muscle strength, and athletic performance. aiding the body as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and free radical scavenging agent, which help to protect DNA cells and hence boost skin health!
Carnosine foods include meat, fish and poultry. Try to opt for the healthiest versions of each, such as grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish and organic chicken or turkey.
My personal favorite way to increase carnosine is using a photo therapy patch that assists production of carnosine in the body naturally! A clinical study demonstrated that carnosine levels are elevated by simply wearing this patch! It is known as the “first aid patch” and is beneficial for burns, lumps, bumps, bruises, lacerations and clots. It is great for tissue repair, healing, and longevity. It aids in wound healing and increases cellular communication.

Leptin, a hormone predominantly produced by adipose (fat) cells plays a crucial role in regulating energy balance. Leptin is the barometer for energy in the body. It acts as a satiety (I’m full) signal, meaning that higher levels of leptin reduce appetite and promote energy expenditure. It communicates to the hypothalamus in your brain every night when you’re sleeping how much energy you have stored in your body. Is your fat full or empty?
More body fat = more leptin
Less body fat = less leptin
However, in cases of obesity, leptin resistance can occur, where despite high levels of leptin, the brain does not recognize its satiety signal, leading to continued eating and weight gain.
Leptin resistance precedes insulin resistance, which precedes pre-diabetes.
Low leptin can also cause issues because your body goes into starvation mode.
Starvation mode ➡ increase in cortisol ➡ hypothyroidism ➡ reduced s*x hormone production (infertility, early peri-menopause)
The body can go into starvation mode when you aren’t consuming enough calories during the day (intermittent fasting – especially in the AM, over exercising, malabsorption – low HCl, SIBO, Celiac). Even if you are overweight! The message your brain is receiving is "we didn't get enough energy yesterday".
Leptin is intrinsically connected to your circadian rhythm. This is essential for balancing leptin.
Leptin signaling also affects your immune system, bone health, cardiovascular health, cognitive function, mood and emotional regulation.

Hello! 👋 I thought I would officially introduce myself here and share a bit about my journey. My name is Brooke Erickson and my health journey began after my grandmother (who I greatly resemble) passed away from lymphoma cancer at the young age of 65. I was VERY close with her and in the back of my mind I thought, “OMG, are these my genes!?!?”. That sparked a passion for health and nutrition and I decided that even though those were my genes, I was going to live a long and healthy life.
Fast forward a few years and I finally decided to follow my passion and go back to school. After finishing undergraduate school at Bastyr University, I decided to take a couple of years off and work before starting graduate school. I was exhausted. I had just started an internship that was an hour drive from my house. I found myself fighting to keep my eyes open while driving at 10am after getting 8 hours of sleep the night before. It was crazy and made no sense. After getting some lab work done I discovered that I was very low in B12 and compound heterozygous for MTHFR. I started taking a B complex and started to feel so much better. I became fascinated with nutrigenomics.
After finishing my masters in Nutrition and Functional Medicine, I started my own practice and also worked at several clinics learning and experiencing different fields of nutrition. I worked with children who had autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and many other childhood disorders, then with cancer patients, then in rheumatology at the Seattle Arthritis Clinic.
My focus has always been getting to the root cause. What I’ve discovered over the years is that every time I thought I had finally reached the bottom layer, I would uncover another layer. The human body is so magical and complex and it seems that so often we are addressing symptoms even when we think we aren’t. My gift is remaining curious and always asking, “why”?
This has led me to my current perspective on the root causes that I see as the most impactful when it comes to health – mitochondria function, gut health, nutrient deficiencies, circadian rhythm, toxic burden, proper hydration, and our nervous system. Everything else is downstream. 🌱
Grounding involves connecting with the Earth's electromagnetic field by walking barefoot on soil, grass, or sand, or using grounding devices that conduct the Earth's electrons. You can also ground through the ocean, lakes, or even just holding a tree branch. Any amount of time grounding is beneficial, but the benefits increase the longer you do it.
Numerous studies suggest that grounding may offer a range of health benefits including:
🌱 Reducing Inflammation:
One of the key health benefits associated with grounding is its potential to reduce inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation is linked to various health issues, including cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and autoimmune disorders. Research indicates that grounding can have anti-inflammatory effects by neutralizing free radicals and decreasing pro-inflammatory markers.

In one study researchers explored the impact of grounding on sleep patterns. Participants who slept grounded experienced improvements in both subjective and objective measures of sleep quality. The study suggests that grounding may help regulate circadian rhythms and promote better sleep.

Grounding has been shown to have an impact on red blood cells by reducing blood viscosity and clumping.

A randomized controlled trial found that grounding led to significant improvements in mood, stress, and overall well-being. The study suggests that connecting with the Earth's energy may have a calming effect on the nervous system.
🌱 Balancing the Autonomic Nervous System:
The autonomic nervous system plays a crucial role in regulating bodily functions, including heart rate, digestion, and respiratory rate. Research suggests that grounding can help balance the autonomic nervous system, leading to improvements in heart rate variability and overall physiological stability.
🌱 Pain Reduction and Accelerated Healing:
Studies have explored the potential of grounding to reduce pain and promote faster healing. A pilot study found that grounding can have analgesic effects, potentially providing a natural and non-invasive way to manage pain.
Honoring the Wisdom of Your Body
When you develop a deep connection with and love for your body you can easily tap into its messages and wisdom. This is something that I have developed throughout my personal health journey. I don’t accept feeling anything but my optimal self and when I feel “off” I immediately get curious. Over the years I’ve become so in tune with the subtle changes in my body that I’m able to notice when…

🥴 Certain foods don’t make me feel well or cause symptoms
🦠 I need to support my gut health
🏃♀️ I need to exercise and move my body
😭 I’m feeling really emotional and need to cry and let the emotions move through me
What is your body trying to communicate with you?
Tune into your body and really listen to the signs and symptoms that are signaling dysregulation and dis-ease in the body. A common misconception is that it’s just part of aging and getting old. This is a lie. This is an excuse. This is something we tell ourselves in order to avoid having to face the reality that we have been ignoring the whispers from our body that have gotten louder and louder over the years.
What does your body need? What makes it feel nourished? What emotions or trauma have you not addressed? Are you supporting its ability to heal?
I invite you to get curious, to love and trust your body and its ability to heal itself. Start reconnecting with your body if you feel you’ve been disconnected. Be present. Slow down. Use breath to connect with your body and do a body scan. Go out in nature. Put your bare feet on the earth and connect to its electromagnetic field.
These practices may be uncomfortable at first, but over time you will feel a deeper connection with your body. Honor and respect it as a beautiful vessel carrying your soul.

Your liver is responsible for detoxing EDC’s and its ability to do so can be affected by your toxic burden. Reducing your exposure can help reduce your toxic burden.
Most people also need additional detoxification support to remove what is already stored in the body, especially if you have a sluggish liver and/or your drainage pathways are not open. Many of these chemicals are also persistent and are not easily removed from the body.
If you have heavy painful periods, PCOS, endometriosis, or infertility, or you are planning on getting pregnant in the next year I highly recommend a detox protocol.

Each of us have our own unique divine imprint similar to a snowflake. We are an energetic soul having a human experience. There is such a gift in knowing and embodying your personal energy blueprint and gifts that you came here with. When we are not living in alignment with our energy feelings of frustration, anger, bitterness, or disappointment can arise. Our true self is not in energetic integrity and our emotions are signals from our unconscious trying to get our attention. What are e-motions? Energy in motion. Emotions are meant to be experienced, flow through us and be released. What happens when emotions get stuck in the body? Is it possible for stuck emotions to cause health issues? Absolutely! In fact, I believe it’s often a significant underlying root cause.

For every problem a solution already exists. These two things are not on the same frequency. Think of it as contraction (problem) and expansion (solution) of our consciousness. We are always in this flow because our purpose is to continue to grow and learn. Often times the very thing that keeps us from expansion is an unwillingness to let go of something.
What do you need to let go of that can’t come with you in your expansion?
Today’s full moon is the perfect day to release anything that is holding you back from expansion. This could be an emotion, an excuse, resentment, a relationship, a story/self-talk that you’re attached to, or even a job.
When we continue to experience the same problem/challenge/issue this is because we are stuck trying to solve the problem in the same frequency (a karmic loop). How do you move to a different frequency? Do something that brings you joy. Play with your kids or pet, listen to music that makes you happy, dance, paint, go be in nature, take a bath, etc.
This is where the magic happens. ✨

New study found that participants who consumed more than 19.9% of their calories from UPF had a 28% faster rate of cognitive decline.
Let’s talk about processed foods. I generally consider anything with more than 5 ingredients to be processed. Then there are ultra processed foods (UPF’s), which are defined as “formulations of processed food substances (oils, fats, sugars, starch, and protein isolates) that contain little or no whole foods and typically include flavorings, colorings, emulsifiers, and other cosmetic additives.”
Examples include:
Sweet and savory snacks
Cereal
Fake “plant-based” meat, cheese, etc
Salad dressings
Ice cream
Frozen meals
Sugar sweetened beverages
All fast food
Basically, if it comes in a package then read the label. Avoid industrial seed oils (canola, corn, soybean, sunflower, safflower) which are heavily processed and inflammatory.
Choose whole foods, preferably organic.

I love being a healer. As a functional nutritionist, I know how to help people heal physically. It’s been my passion for so many years and I’m so grateful that I get to do what I love every day. For several years now I have been on a spiritual journey and it has transformed my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. My depth of understanding about the power of healing spiritually, emotionally, and energetically has awakened a knowing that this is part of my souls purpose. We cannot heal physically without also healing our soul.
We are spiritual beings whose consciousness is the key to healing and our path to becoming the highest expressions of ourselves. Only then can we co-create a beautiful new earth where joy, unity and unconditional love are our core values. It starts with us.
