Summertime!

We’ve got a short window of summer ☀️ weather here in Maine so we try to make the most of it. This season, we have all gotten credentialed as residential lobstermen which has been a super exciting process.

We studied the rules and regulations set forth by the state of Maine to pass a test designed to make sure we understand how to safely participate in bringing lobsters 🦞 to the table.

Once our licenses arrived we got busy. And salty! We’ve gotten our kits sorted out and have learned how to measure a lobster, check to make sure it’s not a female, and to get rubber bands on the claws without getting pinched. We have painted our bouys, set out traps and are getting used to hauling them back up. There is just nothing more exciting than having a lobster in your trap! What fun we’ve been having! 🦞🦀⚓️🦭

And now, we are enjoying the freshest lobster every night of the week. (Except Sunday, because the rules say no lobstering on Sunday!).

Lobstering has become a family tradition that will bring our boys back to Maine every summer. Even with our busy schedules, jobs, and obligations, a stop at home with the promise of a lobstering adventure keeps our family together.

What makes our Devon coverlet so special?

This is a cotton linen blended coverlet that we are offering in 6 colors. Each of our colors reverses to our natural linen (undyed color). Each one is entirely reversible. The coverlets and throws are finished with a tiny brushed fringe edge. The shams have a plain edge and hidden zipper closure. The shams can be situated on the bed to feature the color side or the natural linen side making it fun to stack sizes.

Our colors are Ivory, Oak, Cobalt, Teal, Crimson and Apple Green and the blended linen content gives each its uniquely weathered coloration.

Well, hello! 👋🏻 Thanks for following along! For those of you who are new here, let me introduce myself. I’m Shari Kline, the owner + creative director for TL at Home.

TL ( also known as Traditions Linens) was founded by my mother-in-law over 50 years ago! This year marks my 30th anniversary with the company and 12th as owner! How crazy is that? I’ve long believed that my fine arts degree from prepared me for this work in ways I couldn’t have understood back then. Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked in every department and am currently enjoying working remotely from the coast of Maine.

My favorite things to do are the design work, especially looking at fabrics and I have an equal passion for spreadsheets and reporting. I also absolutely love going to our trade shows and reconnecting with our customers. Especially those who remember working with my MIL and those who have grown up alongside me for the last 30 years! It’s so fun to be part of a generational family business! But the part of this that keeps me going is the opportunity to keep our founding traditions alive.

We still manufacture our MTO (made to order) collections in upstate NY region using a team of home sewing experts. We train these folks, we provide them with an income stream and we strengthen our bonds in our local community.

And, we still design and import the finest blankets and coverlets from Portugal and our extensive collection of MTO sheeting is beyond compare.

We always say that it’s the combination of our fashion fabrics with our blankets, coverlets and sheets that makes a TL bed richly complex with nuanced color and texture. And, as always, our products are washable and meant to fit comfortably into your busy lifestyle.
