Adults STOP just swimming enough distance to survive if you want to improve your swim. Here is a format that works well for most of the year if not most swims when you are new. You will get faster with making sure you warm up, improve technique, go fast, do a little endurance and finish with proper cool down. The order is important to do skill and speed before you tire.
