Walsh Construction is celebrating the milestone installation of the final girder for the I-270 Chain of Rocks eastbound bridge in St. Louis! This new structure is being built directly south of the existing Chain of Rocks Bridge, and is the first of the project's twin bridges to be built. The second will be constructed one on the same alignment as the existing bridge.

Check out these construction numbers for the new eastbound structure:

✅ Number of laterals = 281
✅ Number of bolts = 75,333
✅ Total weight of eastbound bridge = 14,853,620 lbs.

Continuing our Miraculous Medal tradition at the first concrete pour for the Canadian National Railway Spaulding to Sutton Double Track Project in Elgin, Illinois. Walsh Construction is widening 4.25 miles of the mainline track between Elgin and Hoffman Estates, as well as widening two existing railroad bridges. The first concrete pour was performed for the new footings to widen the Poplar Creek Bridge, which was built in 1915.

Our team from the Beacon Health Memorial Hospital of South Bend Campus Redevelopment project recently volunteered with Cultivate Food Rescue to help package over 1,000 meals.

Cultivate Food Rescue is devoted to alleviating hunger in Northern Indiana by recovering excess, quality food and redistributing it to school children, food pantries, shelters and more to feed those who need it and promote sustainability.

Celebrating the formal groundbreaking for the new Ryan Field at Northwestern University! The project, being built by Walsh Construction and Turner Construction Company, has moved into the construction stage with foundation preparation work underway. Crews recently completed demolition of the existing stadium to clear the way for the new Ryan Field. The new Ryan Field will be one of the most accessible stadiums in college football and designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold-Certified standard for sustainability. Kicking off Construction Camp with a visit to . Campers include 24 high school students that will be learning about construction career paths through hands-on activities, jobsite visits and an estimating assignment.

Walsh Construction and joint venture partner GMA Construction Group are beginning a new project to preserve affordable housing in Chicago.

Work is officially underway on the $117 million comprehensive renovation of the 21-story Island Terrace Apartments in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood. Excited to announce that Salesforce Tower Chicago has been named a Best Tall Building by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). Built by Walsh Construction, Salesforce Tower Chicago is now recognized has one of the best tall buildings in the world, receiving the recognition in the 200-299 Meters Category in the 2024 CTBUH Awards.

Walsh Construction pours a new pier cap over the entrance ramp connecting I-88 to I-294/I-290; a marquee pour for the I-290/I-88 Interchange Project at I-294.

The cap measures 100 feet long, 11 feet wide, and 12.75 feet tall and weighs approximately 2.2 million pounds. In a 12-hour shutdown of the ramp and lanes on I-88, crews poured 513 cubic yards on a formwork system that spanned 55 feet.

This formwork system required multiple months of design and a month and a half to build. After a two-to-three week cure period, the cap will be post tensioned and the girders for the new 600-foot bridge over I-88 will be set.

This entrance ramp is the Illinois Tollway's busiest, a daily connection for 300,000 cars to the interchange.

Working mightily across 26 miles in North Texas, and Herzog are building DART Silver Line, the new transit connection that will extend from DFW Airport to Plano. From transit and pedestrian bridge work to track installation, civil work and station construction, Archer Western Herzog is creating the infrastructure that will improve mobility, accessibility and system linkages in the northern part of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (Official DART page) Service Area.

In Orem, Utah, Archer Western is building a tertiary treatment facility for the provision of reuse water and the removal of phosphorus from the Orem Water Reclamation Facility effluent. The facility will include chemical storage and feed, rapid mix, cloth media disk filters, a chlorine contact basin, and a reuse water pump station. Currently on site:

- Cellular clay block walls are complete
- CCB elevated slabs are 50% complete
- Effluent filter walls are 85% complete
- Under slab 20”-48” Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer Mortar is installed

The Biomedical and Materials Engineering Complex – Phase 2 is under construction on The Ohio State University campus and is proud to be a part of the team. The $94.3 million project will renovate the existing MacQuigg Hall and construct an addition that will ultimately deliver the new home of first-year engineering courses, makerspace, biomedical and advanced materials R&D, and engaging K-12 STEM programs. This section of the I-26 Connector will transform vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian access to and through downtown Asheville, including a new interchange at Patton Avenue, a new bridge over the French Broad River and a new bridge at Broadway Street.
