🔎 2023 Small Business Grantee Feature

Twisted Eggroll is a catering service that approaches the traditional egg roll with an infused spin with delicious flavors including apple cheesecake, buffalo chicken, cheesesteak, mushroom veggie melt, and veggie southwestern. In late 2023, they secured a nationwide deal with the Sprouts grocery store chain and their eggroll products can now be found in 134 stores!

Even as Owner Nikkita Randle is busy scaling her own business, she makes time to give back and mentor other West Side business owners to help them grow their businesses as well.

The WSU Small Business Grant will help support Twisted Eggroll’s Sprouts partnership while helping them scale their partnership to even more stores.

Twisted Eggroll is one of five small businesses funded by the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation as part of their broader commitment to support neighboring communities on the West Side.

WSU’s 2023 Small Business Grantees were selected from priority vendor categories identified by our hospital partners to build capacity for and promote West Side businesses within our hospital partner vendor pipeline.

Last week the ninth cohort of A4CB’s Neighborhood Entrepreneurship Lab (NEL) graduated from our rigorous accelerator program! Fourteen entrepreneurs from across Chicagoland participated in our program that pairs community business owners with advisors who provide intensive project support. The program also includes monthly group training from industry experts and a $20,000 grant.

We’re excited to announce the 2023 Small Business Grant Program awardees in partnership with Allies for Community Business. Nikkita Randle, a Chicago native, with a charismatic spirit that loves to travel, cook, eat, dance, and listen to music. A graduate of both the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Keller Graduate School of Management. Nikkita invested 10 years in the insurance and transportation sector. Although accomplished in her field, she did not have a passion for it. Desires of entrepreneurship, cooking, and leaving an incredible legacy fueled her. After losing her father to ALS in 2010 establishing Twisted Eggroll in January 2015 afforded the opportunity to encompass all three! The seed was planted when a request was made for her to cook a cheesesteak egg roll and a cheesecake egg roll. After success with both flavors, the vision for Twisted Eggroll came to her a birthed a catering service that approaches the thought of the traditional egg roll with an infused spin; now expanding into CPG. She is committed to Twisted Eggroll becoming a household name one freezer at a time.
