New project on my hook…
Not me, with nine skeins of yarn sitting in my Amazon cart because I found out a coworker is having a baby this fall (and I, of course, don’t have the right colors/type at home already for the projects I picked out for her)…
🤣🤣🤣 No other way...
When you injure yourself the week before Christmas break and can’t finish the teacher gifts you started, you celebrate Christmas in January. Six hat and scarf sets for all of my son’s teachers, just in time for the weather to get cold again.
More teacher gifts. These are slouch beanies, minus the pompoms that will go on top. Making all the hats, then the scarves, and saving pompoms and tassels for the last minute. Only four more nights to get these all finished.
Halfway done with teacher gift #2.
One teacher Christmas gift (almost) done, just needs the pompom on the hat. Only seven (yes, SEVEN) more to go.
This has been a labor of love. Each row of each balloon is a different color, so it's a time-consuming process. Each balloon and basket has to be stiffened before it can be assembled. But it's finally done, and just in time to be wrapped and delivered later this week.
I started a new career last summer, learning how to be an EEG technician. My kids like to hear about what I was learning in class, and one of the subjects we covered was anatomy of the brain. One of the parts we covered is the hippocampus, which controls our memory. My oldest couldn't remember the full name when he tried to talk about it several days later and simply called it "the hippo part of the brain". This is my hippo, Campus, and I added a clip so that I can attach her to my bag at work and use her with the younger patients I take care of.
Another part of the baby gift finished. Pattern in the comments, for those interested.
Finished half of a gift for a new baby girl. She hasn't actually arrived yet, so maybe I can get the other half done before she does. We'll see.
Definitely my hair. 😂
Quick little evening experiment, something I might do for the kids to take to school. Or I might make them for my coworkers, filled with plenty of sweet treats. Pattern from Repeat Crafter Me, link in comments.
After wearing her Christmas present to school this week, my daughter came home with requests for hats for two of her friends as well. Of course, she had to model them for me as well. Both patterns have been shared previously, the 30 Minute Beanie and the Back to Basics Slouchy Beanie.
Finished a quick little Friday evening project - a set of cup cozies for another teacher. Colors chosen by my daughter.
Now that I'm finished with Christmas presents, I've got another project to start. Someone at work has a baby coming in March, which should be plenty of time to finish this Call the Midwife baby blanket.
Christmas presents were finished just in time and are being enjoyed by all: a beret (with a pom pom) for my daughter, a messy bun hat for the son who is growing out his man bun, and a regular beanie (in Power Rangers pink) for my oldest son. Hope you all had a very Merry (and warm) Christmas!
Squeezed in an order for a coworker, between Christmas presents. I may just need to make one of these for myself when I'm done with presents.
I ran out of time and will have to give a belated gift this year, but we also forgot someone important and I was scrambling to get them all covered. Now I have to move on to hats, as gifts for the kids and one that was ordered by a coworker.
Next Christmas project, one of four sets of washcloths that we will add to spa baskets for teachers and administrators. This set goes to the school principal, who is fond of a certain mouse. These are made with I Love This Cotton (I was able to squeeze out two washcloths per skein, barely). Pattern is by Abigurumii, linked in the comments.
Finally finished the biggest project for this Christmas season, this 16x16 pillow for one son's teacher. His teacher likes Han Solo, so now he can use the Millennium Falcon to keep him comfy while grading papers. Pattern was a perler bead diagram and I used the corner to corner (C2C) stitch.
Had enough yarn to do a second 30 minute beanie for the Secret Santa gift exchange at work this week. Because these are done with double strands of yarn, they're nice and thick and should definitely keep my coworker warm on the trek to and from the parking deck this winter.
Finally finished...with the front half. I need to do a solid panel of the same size and then stitch them together to make the pillow. And that will take care of one teacher's gift. Only four more teachers/school staff to take care of.
I'm easy to shop for 😂

Took a brief pause from Star Wars crochet again to whip up this gift for a Christmas party at work. The 30 Minute Beanie is true to its name and makes a perfect gift. Pattern by Heart Hook Home, link in comments.
I had to set this aside for a little while because I got busy with work/school, but after picking it up again this weekend, it's getting closer to being done. Once this is done, I have to make another solid navy panel and then stitch them together over a pillow form. Sure hope this science teacher and Star Wars fan appreciates it!
Started work tonight on teacher gifts for Christmas. This is the start of pillow one of two for a teacher who likes Star Wars. I've played around with this technique but never actually made anything with it, so this will be an adventure. Check back to see the finished project.
I know, it's only September. But I'm looking ahead a few months and thinking about Christmas gifts for teachers. I have to plan ahead, with three kids in school, and I wanted to just remind everyone that these types of items are all things that make wonderful gifts for teachers. There are plenty more ideas on this page as well, and I do take special orders.
Late getting these posted, but these were our teacher appreciation/end of the year gifts for teachers this year. Each teacher got four washcloths in their favorite color, and then the kids added various "spa" items - bubble bath, bath salts, lotion, soap, etc. They love being able to personalize them and I love how quickly I can put one together.
Working hard on Christmas gifts for teachers. The kids wanted to make spa baskets this year, so they picked out yarn in their teachers’ favorite colors and I make the washcloths. Then we’ll go to the store for a nice basket and fill them with bubble bath, bath salts or bath bombs, and lotion.
