Studio reconstruction costs so far ...
New roof: $12000
New cement slab: $11675
Outer wall reconstruction: $4561.37
Will it be worth it in the end?
Stay tuned ...
Insulation of outer walls complete.
Upon closer examination, we have 8 AWG inside that conduit. If I want 60+ amps at the barn, this won't be good enough to keep within a 3% max voltage drop. Gonna need at least 4 AWG maybe 3 AWG to future-proof it just in case. That creates an unexpected expense because now I gotta get all new wire and pull out the 8 AWG. Ugh.
Quick update on the new studio rebuild. I just got notice that the OSB and insulation is ready for pickup at Menards. This will allow me to insulate and finish the inside of the outer barn walls. After that, it's all about electrical and lighting, framing and finishing the control room and tracking room, and also HVAC. A Q3 2023 completion date is still on the table.
At the beginning of the video you can see the conduit exiting the house against the back wall. That's where the trace started.
Electrical trace for barn / studio. Just a quick update on the electrical trace for the barn / studio.

The dirt floor in this barn was actually much worse before this pic was taken. This was after the cement crew excavated and leveled everything out.
