Good Causes, Brand Trust, and Profits: Why YouTuber’s Private Charity Is Wrongly Criticized | Daniel Sterbuleac 18/02/2023

"Profit seeking in the first place is what brought Donaldson here, and he did so by firstly providing consumers with quality entertainment ... Neither can I find how profit making is evil when the profit is made through the consent of both parties involved."

The backlash against MrBeast's charitable efforts took a turn that's both anti-markets and, ultimately, contrary to any genuine charity (which must be voluntarily arrived at in order to be good and virtuous.

Good Causes, Brand Trust, and Profits: Why YouTuber’s Private Charity Is Wrongly Criticized | Daniel Sterbuleac No good deed goes unpunished claims the old proverb, and twenty-four-year-old YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson’s recent charity act of helping one thousand blind people see again has the world divided on the moral circumstances surrounding his private charity.

Studio reconstruction costs so far ...
New roof: $12000
New cement slab: $11675
Outer wall reconstruction: $4561.37

Will it be worth it in the end?
Stay tuned ...

Upon closer examination, we have 8 AWG inside that conduit. If I want 60+ amps at the barn, this won't be good enough to keep within a 3% max voltage drop. Gonna need at least 4 AWG maybe 3 AWG to future-proof it just in case. That creates an unexpected expense because now I gotta get all new wire and pull out the 8 AWG. Ugh.

Quick update on the new studio rebuild. I just got notice that the OSB and insulation is ready for pickup at Menards. This will allow me to insulate and finish the inside of the outer barn walls. After that, it's all about electrical and lighting, framing and finishing the control room and tracking room, and also HVAC. A Q3 2023 completion date is still on the table.
