This month, I had the honor of facilitating a grief, self-care, and boundaries workshop with the wonderful staff at the NYC Department of Transportation .
In the "Compassionate Connections" workshop, we delved into the multifaceted nature of grief and the vital role of empathy in providing support.
๐๐ฝ We recognized that grief is a deeply personal experience, varying widely among individuals, and emphasized the importance of understanding and navigating its various stages. We highlighted the need for effective communication, both verbal and non-verbal, stressing patience, understanding, and a non-judgmental approach.
๐๐ฝ We engaged in hands-on self-care, self-compassion, and practical strategies for those navigating grief.
๐๐ฝ We also addressed the often-overlooked aspect of compassion fatigue in supporters, highlighting the necessity of self-care and the use of personal support systems.
I am deeply moved by the lovely feedback and feel truly blessed. ๐๐ฝ๐
Breakups and betrayals are profoundly painful experiences. They can leave us questioning our worth, our trust in others, and even our own judgment. But hereโs an insightful truth: often, the deepest pain we feel isnโt just from losing the person we loved, but from the wounds inflicted on our ego and the shattered dreams of what could have been.
If you're healing from a breakup or betrayal, then this is for you.

๐DM with questions & share with someone who may need this.
The Enabler/Appeaser might find themselves minimizing the severity of situations, making excuses for the behavior of their loved ones, or even going to great lengths such as posting bail in the event of legal issues.
๐๐ฝWhile these actions are usually driven by a deep-seated desire to help, they can perpetuate the cycle of dysfunction by preventing others from facing the natural consequences of their actions.
Keep in mind that enabling behavior, though well-intentioned, often stems from an individual's own coping mechanisms developed in response to the chaos of living in a dysfunctional family environment.
If you resonate with this role, recognizing when your actions, meant to help, might actually be hindering the growth and recovery of your loved ones is crucial.
It is important to seek support to learn to set boundaries and find more effective ways to support both yourself and those you care about.
If you're navigating these complex dynamics, remember you're not alone. Our Self-Worth Hubยฎ membership offers actionable tools and a supportive community to guide you toward healthier relationships and self-understanding.

In commemoration of women's herstory month and March 8th, International Working Women's Day, I invite you to pause and reflect on a deeply personal aspect of our journey as womenโour healing from internalized oppression.
Many of us carry the weight of narratives that have been embedded into our psyche over generationsโnarratives that shape how we see ourselves, how we engage in relationships, and how we navigate our roles in society. These stories, often rooted in systemic and cultural oppression, can limit our sense of self-worth, our ability to set healthy boundaries, and our pursuit of authentic connections and careers.

๐๐ฝIf you come from a family where apologies are rare or absent, and accountability feels like a myth, you may have a deep rooted feeling of invalidation that may lead you to question your feelings, and even ignore them altogether.
This behavior may stem from pride, but it's also a survival tactic learned from a young age. Acknowledging this doesn't excuse the behavior but provides a pathway to understanding.
Let's open a dialogue about the power of vulnerability, the strength in admitting mistakes, and the healing that comes from genuine apologies. It's time to shift the narrative from one of blame and avoidance to one of growth, understanding, and connection.
โค๏ธโ๐ฉนYour journey of healing and establishing healthier relationships starts with understanding the roots of these challenges, and gathering the courage to be assertive in facing them and taking up space.
If this resonates, I invite you to join our Self-Worth Hubยฎ, a safe space where we explore these themes and provide actionable tools to navigate the complex dynamics of dysfunctional families, fostering self-worth and setting the foundation for healthier relationships.

๐๐ฝIt's important to remember that the goal isn't to change your parents but to change your relationship with yourself in the context of this dynamic. It's about building a life where your self-worth isn't tied to their approval or behavior. Healing from the impact of growing up with emotionally immature parents is a profound journey of reclaiming your sense of self, learning to meet your own emotional needs, and establishing healthy, fulfilling relationships.
๐๐ฝYour experiences are valid, and your feelings matter. It's a journey of courage, resilience, and, ultimately, profound self-discovery.
