Beautiful Tali -- Success Story
Meet Tali, a gorgeous female Siamese who came to us via a very sad and unfortunate story. Tali lost her human to cancer and had to be re-homed. However, prior to finding a rescue group or forever home, it was discovered she had some serious dental issues that needed to be taken care of. We were contacted by the family of the deceased to see if our urgent care program could help with a medical grant to financially contribute to such a situation. Together with our friends at Gateway Pet Hospital, we were able to get Tali the dental work she needed so that the process of rehoming could begin. Then, our friends at Safe Cat agreed to take her into their foster-to-adopt program during her recovery and until her forever home was identified. Sometimes it takes a village and many organizations to solve one story. Paws In Need was happy to be a part of the solution for beautiful Tali.
Happy Labor Day!
Sweet Jessica -- Success Story
Her owner called many organizations and groups seeking assistance for both low-cost spay options and an irritating, ongoing skin condition. After having seen two other veterinarians and the skin condition not getting any better, our friends at Castro Valley Animal Hospital saw Sweet Jessica and were able to get to the bottom of it. We were also able to provide an option for a low-cost spay procedure. Jessica’s owner tells us her skin is completely healed, and they are very grateful for our assistance.

Success for Max!
You may remember Max from a previous story. This is an update to share a wonderful success story for this handsome boy. Max was dumped in a park and found by the most wonderful people anyone could ask for. After trying to find his owner and following all the rules, sadly it was clear nobody was looking for him. His new family then contacted Paws In Need about utilizing our low-cost neuter program for this big boy. We were very happy to assist with this need. His wonderful forever family reports he has fit right in, is loved by parents, kids, dog sibling Millie and even 2 rescue cats! Full of mischief and playfulness, he even plays with the cats. Max is a big lover boy and a gentle giant! He didn’t have a great start, but he sure has a great ending. Good for you, Max!
Happy Mother's Day!
Beautiful Wanda
We were contacted by Wanda’s owner to financially assist with an urgent care surgery needed for a category III lumpectomy. Otherwise healthy with a good to great prognosis, we were happy to help this family with an assistance grant in their time of need. They also received financial assistance for this very serious surgery from PetSmart charities, Contra Costa County and East Bay SPCA Oakland, along with us at Paws in Need. As we’ve said before, sometimes it takes a village, and in this case, it was wonderful to see four organizations come together to save Wanda. Thanks to her owners and all involved, Wanda is on her path to recovery.

Happy Tails Story -- Success Story
Tooty is one of many success stories our organization has been involved with over the many years. Tooty went through Paws In Need’s low-cost Spay/Neuter program several years ago and his owner has kept in touch with us and is also a supporter. Periodically we get pictures and videos from people we have assisted with low-cost spay or neuter surgeries. Tooty’s owner snapped this photo in December, noting how he loves his new velvet holiday bed! We think he looks pretty comfy!

Leo, King of the Jungle -- Success Story
This big, handsome boy was found in an industrial park amongst a feral colony in Livermore. Workers say he’s been there for over two years. Our volunteer, who was there in an effort to stop the overpopulation, discovered he was friendly. Upon securing him and getting him into a veterinarian minimally to be neutered and be temperament tested for possible placement with a foster-to-adopt organization, it was discovered the workers are right, he is very social and friendly. You’ll notice his eyes in the photo, but don’t be alarmed. It was discovered he was suffering from severe entropion, which is a condition where the eye lashes grow inward and cause damage to the eye. The dark circles you see in the photo are the sutures as he is now being fostered and recovering from his eye surgery. Paws In Need was happy to neuter him through our low-cost neuter program, as well as provide some financial assistance for the entropion surgery. Now named Leo, he is feeling much better and is safe.

Meet Diesel and Guera -- Success Story
Diesel and Guera’s family contacted our organization desperate to utilize our low-cost Spay/Neuter program. Frustrated after having called multiple places to try to find a low-cost option, they found us! Full price for spay and neuter surgery, especially for two large breeds, can be exorbitant. As a result, many families are not able to financially spay or neuter their pets. Paws In Need to the rescue! We were all too happy to assist this lovely family with their spay and neuter needs. Both dogs came through our program and were all recovered very well. Way to go Diesel and Guera!
Bandit -- Success Story
This masked avenger was found outside as a baby, in the parking lot of a Tri-Valley hotel. Bandit was in need of a neuter as soon as he grew to 3 pounds. Paws In Need was contacted to utilize our low-cost neuter program. Despite his serious masked face, he’s as sweet and friendly as can be, and lucky he was rescued from outdoors so young. His mother and siblings were eventually also found, and our program was able to fix all of them, as well. Another happy tails ending for Bandit and his whole feline family!

Almond and Walnut -- Success Story
These two nutty boys were born outside in a very nice elderly man’s yard in Livermore. Since he wanted to make sure they didn’t just become feral, he contacted us to utilize Paws In Need’s low cost spay-neuter program. We fixed the outdoor mother, as well as her 4 kittens, which Almond and Walnut were a part of. After the mother recovered from her spay, she was returned to the yard where he will continue to feed her, but no more litters for her! Our friends at Safe Cat Foundation took Almond and Walnut in, along with the other two kittens into one of their quality foster homes, and they are doing great, just looking for their forever homes!
WALMART GRANT AWARD
Paws In Need is thrilled to announce that we have received a generous Walmart/Sam’s Club Community Grant award from the San Ramon facility!

Meet the Cow Girls!
Elsie, Bessie & Clarabelle, found at a hotel next to the ravine in Pleasanton when trying to catch their mother, who was thought to be someone’s lost pet. Turns out the mom was feral and was living there with her babies, who looked like little baby Holstein cows. Paws In Need was able to secure the mother and arrange her spay surgery as soon as she stopped nursing. Our friends at Safe Cat have taken them into their foster-to-adopt program and these friendly, healthy trio of girls are on their way to finding their forever homes!
