Guess who is pregnant and going to produce some amazing service dog prospects! Kaya and Tank (who we have some frozen samples from) will be proud parents soon! A waitlist is started and highly recommended for this litter.

One more hopeful surprise next week too!

Another flight. This meant getting her paperwork together for TSA and DOT. The forms are much more detailed and strict. First stop was the outside pet relief area. Through security, then off to the indoor pet relief area closet to our gate. Then to the gate to wait to depart.

Why Ziraโ€™s vest was off during part of our trip was due to her being hot in the crammed airport and on the plane. She wore her vest every time we got up to move but it was important to make sure she was comfortable. I am glad to be working on a more versatile SD vest coming soon!

I always keep in mind my dogs comfort while working. Now we are ready for a nap at the hotel! I could not make these trips without her.

We have selected a logo to begin working with. I truly appreciate everyoneโ€™s insight! I am so happy to have a Labrador as we do primarily use Labradors in our program. I did struggle with deciding on gender neutrality and we are here to help anyone with any disability needing assistance. Being a woman in what is still a male dominated field I chose to stick with the more feminine option as I feel this also represents my relationship with my SD Zira and the deep bond I see between our graduate dogs and their handlers. I like the small tree overlapping as I feel this helps to signify the growth and beauty during the journey with your service dog.

Over all I feel this image brought to life those deep feelings I have about the life service dogs help their handlers gain back! Thank you all for your help and support. I wouldnโ€™t be able to do this without such wonderful clients, amazing dogs, and seeing the beauty as each team graduates! ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ

Help me choose my new design! 03/08/2024

I'm looking to update the logo to reflect the transition to working with service dogs and our purpose bred Labrador Retrievers. Let me know what you think!

Help me choose my new design! Iโ€™m running a logo contest on 99designs. Designers have submitted 57 designs so far. Please vote on your favorite as Iโ€™d love to receive your feedback.

Such an amazing group outing yesterday! I loved having so many of our service dogs out and about together! we have a range from young dogs and a puppy and training for service work to some of our dogs that have been working for several years with their handler. Iโ€™m so proud of each of the handlers and how they work as a team with their dog.

Iโ€™m so excited (and a bit nervous) to announce that starting August 1 I will be focusing on an owner assisted service dog program. It has taken several years to reach this point.

My new program will be a virtual based program offered as self-paced, interactive, or hybrid. Our current internal breeding and service dog program will continue and we are hoping for 2 litters this years. This will be a program offered throughout the US to help individuals through the selection process of getting a service dog prospect all the way through training.

While we offer this program is it always important to note that general access for service dogs is covered by the ADA and does not require persons with disabilities to have a dog certified or registered to assist them.

My goal is to offer a quality but affordable service to help guide handlers through the training process. We will first be offering a FREE course about service dogs and service dog selection!

One of my favorite parts of training is happy dogs who can have fun, enjoy working with their owners, and relax and be calm too. There is nothing better than a trusting, loving bond with our canine companions! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿฅฐ

I spent many years volunteering with this Humane Society of Humane Society of Calloway County. The number of animals helped and saved given such limited resources is amazing! Please take a moment to click the link shared. No money is required to help!

We partnered with YummyPets back in November of 2022 and were able to earn free kibble to help support our fosters who take in animals while they are looking for their forever homes. YummyPets reached out to us and asked if we would be interested in participating again and of course we said YES!!!

๐ˆ๐ญ ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐›๐ž ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ข๐ž๐ซ. You do NOT have to create an account OR pay for anything. If you do create an account then every time you click to give it counts as two clicks instead of one (but again that is completely optional). You can also watch the progress bar on the website to see how many more clicks we need to hit our goal.

๐…๐ฎ๐ง ๐Ÿ๐š๐œ๐ญ - you can click one time per day per device in your household. For example, if you have a smartphone, a tablet, and a computer you could go to the website on each of those devices and get clicks for every one!!! And don't forget to share the link with all of your friends and family as well!

Interesting read!

Are you feeding your dog too often? โฐ๐Ÿ—โฐ๐Ÿฅฉโฐ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿถ

Dogs fed once a day are less likely to be diagnosed with age-related conditions than pooches fed more often, study claims.

In the largest largest study to date of feeding frequency conducted in companion dogs, University of Arizona-led experts analyzed data on 24,238 pet dogs from the US and found:

โ€ข Being fed once a day lowered the risk of nine types of canine health problems
โ€ข These included cancer, dental issues and either kidney or urinary complications
โ€ข Similarly, dogs fed only once daily scored lower on tests of cognitive problems
โ€ข But the team said it is too early to advise owners to change their pet's diets

โ€œWe view these results as an exciting first step of an ongoing exploration of the impact of diet on companion dogs living in human environments. Given the intense interest in, and popularization of, โ€˜longevity dietsโ€™ such as intermittent fasting and time-restricted feeding, these types of studies in dogs are both timely and important. We believe these studies will ultimately offer insights into factors that promote health and longevity for both dogs and humans.โ€ - The Dog Aging Project

The scientists and researchers we interviewed for The Forever Dog book agreed that one meal a day for healthy dogs is ideal, in terms of maximizing autophagy and minimizing metabolic stress.

To learn how to transition your pup to a new eating schedule and create an eating window (which allows your pup to receive the benefits of intermittent fasting while offering the same amount of food) check out the section in our book โ€œPersonalized Meals as Medicineโ€ found here: www.foreverdog.com

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
โ€ข healthy upon arrival
โ€ข at least 6 months of age
โ€ข microchipped
โ€ข accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Use CDCโ€™s Q&A tool (the CDC โ€œDogBotโ€) to determine what rules apply to your dog: https://bit.ly/2rww2bq
