I’ve done a LOT of dip kisses in my nearly 17 years of wedding photography. This one is a first.
The number of fun photos you'll get from your wedding reception directly correlates to the energy of your guests. Invite the weird ones.

Some people don't like the idea of sparklers for their wedding. Understandable. Bubbles can be a fun alternative. They also look magical against a sunset, like they did for Amanda and Caleb out at . Remember, if you're getting married out at Roca Berry Farm, I provide some special package pricing! Visit www.thestudioorange.com/roca-packages for more info!
One of the traditions on a wedding day is the pre-ceremony gift exchange. A heartfelt note and a meaningful gift are offered as an expression of love. It's often a moment of vulnerability where emotions spill out. This gift exchange took place in the beautiful Harvest Barn at . Sometimes the exchange occurs in a cluttered hotel room or otherwise small space that often isn't very photogenic. That's one of the many things I love about photographing at - there's no shortage of space for private, yet picturesque moments.
With the weather finally warming up, now is the time to start thinking about booking that senior photo session. I know graduation day 2025 seems like a long way off, but the LPS deadline for yearbook submission is October, and you don't want to be scrambling at the last minute! Head over to TheStudioOrange.com to get your session scheduled!
In 2017 I went down to to photograph the eclipse. Unfortunately, clouds came in at the moment of totality. I wasn't able to make the trip to a location of totality this year, so decided to revisit Roca Berry Farm. It was a perfect day to view the partial eclipse. And even without totality, it was a wild experience. At peak coverage, the light became surreal and the temperature drastically dropped. We witnessed pelicans (PELICANS!?) flocking erratically. It was still completely worth it to spend the day on the farm witnessing a wonderous celestial event.
One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is taking ring photos. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all aspects of wedding photography. But the thing is, I generally schedule doing the ring photos during dinner when there isn't much else to photograph. This gives me an opportunity to step back from photographing people, relax with some creative ring photos, and reset in time for the high energy reception. Although I'm technically still working, it feels like a break.
I still have some 2024 dates available and I'm booking for 2025. So head over to TheStudioOrange.com and send me an inquiry if you want me to photograph your rings -- and of course YOU -- on your big day!
I don't make any effort to hide the fact that is my favorite place to photograph weddings. Here's a throwback to the very first wedding I did at back in 2016. I think this was only like the 2nd or 3rd wedding out there. It's crazy to think how far things have come... in that time, they built an entirely new barn (Pioneer) and this year Creekside has undergone some major upgrades - even adding a new sliding door out to the back deck!
If you're planning a wedding out at Roca Berry Farm I'd love to be a part of it! I even have some special pricing packages available if your wedding and ceremony are taking place on the farm. Head over to TheStudioOrange.com and shoot me an inquiry!

Hey everyone, I would not be mad if you nominated Studio Orange Photography in this year's Lincoln Choice Awards!
In the "Services" category, you can put "Studio Orange Photography" in as a write in under the Photographer section.
In the "Tying the Knot" category, it should be even easier -- Studio Orange should already be listed as an option to nominate for "Wedding Photographer."
When the wedding gets more or less cancelled due to the blizzard, you make due with an impromptu party in the couple’s home…
This is a first in over 16 years of weddings: shoveling my way out before I can go photograph.
When it came time to kiss at the end of the first dance, Katelyn and Logan understood the assignment.
There is absolutely nothing like fall sunlight…

I have been photographing weddings for over 15 years. I’m not sure I can even count the number of couples I have had the honor and pleasure to work with.
One thing I can definitively say is that in that time, I have never worked with a couple I didn’t like. Sure, I have connected with some more than others (some so much so that I’m still friends with them years later), but I have genuinely enjoyed working with every single couple.
That isn’t to say every wedding has gone smoothly, or that there haven’t been challenges or frustrations or even disasters. But the one constant has been working with couples that reaffirm wedding photography as a career path I have never regretted.
Tonight I photographed the wedding of Kevin and Jackie. During their engagement session, I knew their wedding would be a fun one. We started off taking some standard photos and they asked if I’d be opposed to doing some more wacky and non-traditional things. I didn’t hesitate and the rest of their engagement session resulted in endless laughter over irreverent and goofy shots that perfectly reflected their personalities.
During the wedding today, I saw that the sky was going to give us some cool colors to play with around sunset, so I brought Kevin and Jackie out for some photos. Although we still did a few goofy photos, being their wedding day, we stuck with mostly more traditional and romantic style shots set against a colorful sky.
When I showed them the previews on the back of the camera, they became overwhelmed. They told me they knew they had hired the right person and gushed about the images they saw. They hugged me like I was now a part of their family.
I’ve always been someone who struggles with insecurity about how to handle compliments, but seeing their joy and gratitude touched me deeply.
This is why I do what I do.
What I love about photographing out at Roca Berry Farm is that there are nearly endless possibilities for cool shots.
It’s time again for my favorite wedding day game: this time, instead of what are they dancing to, WHAT ARE THEY SINGING?
All weddings should have dogs. That should be a law.
Time to play my favorite wedding game: what song are they dancing to???
When you’re getting married on a golf course, it’s important to borrow a couple of clubs for a photo…
