What was your most recent Fragrance Flip TM?

One day I was driving my boys home from school. My 8 yr old had gotten in massive trouble at school. As I walked into the house, ready to take every electronic device from him, I smelled a Shortie's Candle Company candle my husband had lit while I was gone. It caught me like an elevator door closing out negativity and flipping me into positivity. The pattern interrupt needed to get my attention. I slowed down, worked with my son, and we worked through the school situation together. That moment when I stopped, changed, and had a new feeling and reaction, that's called a Fragrance Flip TM.

We focus on what fragrance does for our attitudes and reactions. We focus on giving our customers a "Fragrance Flip TM."

Candles are light and create shadows. Talk to your shadow:). Tell her or him "I love you"

How do you react when you see something cool?

This amazing women, Terry from Grey Eagle, California, stopped me in Walmart. She saw our awesome Shorties Candle Company T-shirt and it made her laugh! She stopped me and we had a long conversation. She loves candles and had never heard of Shortie's.

What is your oldest scented memory?

Junk! Clutter! Why????

I was 21 and had just returned home from traveling for a year. I'd previously purged all my belongings because they were heavy. They weighed me down and kept me still. They took away my freedom to move where and when I wanted.

Now, here I sat, at the friends/roommates Christmas exchange party. I was giving THEM candles I'd made for THEM and in return, I received wax. Wax THEY felt I'd love to play with because they'd all watched me make candles in our kitchen.

What do you do with wax? It meant I was tied down. It was clutter and junk I was now responsible for. My heart sank. Why? Why didn't they see the freedom I needed? Why didn't they understand I wouldn't do much with physical items in my life? Why didn't they see that these candle supplies would hold me back?

The real question: why couldn't I see the gift in front of my face?

For Valentine's Day, the wax made it appearance. I made my boyfriend a candle. The guys at work loved it and wanted their own. Interestingly, they paid me for them, and Shortie's Candle Company was born.

The even realer question: how long would it take me to reframe my view on the gift in front of my face?

May 6th 2024, was our 22nd business anniversary. And the one thing I've struggled with is being absolutely proud of what our candles can do for you in your home. I've always felt like you should only purchase them if you will use them. if you are an official 'candle burner' Use them quick. They are not cheap...to make or to buy. Why would you spend your money on an item that might sit around your home for years? Get in your way and hold you down?

As I sit here writing a list of my stories, I see how this one tiny story is holding me back from connecting with our customers on a level I've held myself back from reaching.

I've had a 'hard time' telling someone they need my product unless I really feel they want it. They almost have to prove to me they want it and then...they can purchase. They prove it by ordering online. Do it yourself. Self serve meant YOU wanted it!

Why? Where did that 'hard time' come from? It came from that moment of relating this candle wax to clutter. I am fantastic at selling a "candle person" a candle. We can connect. I will tell you what you want to hear to finalize your purchase.

How do I convert others? I, just now realized, that their relationship with clutter and junk is up to them. We all see things differently. I know how our product will create a more positive, fun and loving home. I know how our fragrances can touch someone's heart so deeply they finally relax and smile. I know how our scents create memories both new and old. This ability for a product to do this in a home isn't clutter. It's a gift!

It's my job to help others connect with this love that fragrance creates

It's my job to help others see how incredible their lives and homes can become when they add fragrance!

Wax has made me free-er than I ever knew was possible . Wax has given jobs to sooo many employees. Wax has traveled me around the world multiple times. Wax has bought my home and birthed my children and brought my husband and I together. Wax has introduced me to some of the most incredible friends I cherish in my life. Wax isn't junk or clutter to me. Wax is freedom!

Over the weekend we had a family day to celebrate & say ‘thank you’ to the awesome Shortie’s team☀️ 🏊‍♂️ 🏖️💧🍧 We had a blast with Shortie’s Shorties at Wild Island, a great family water park within a mile of our new warehouse!
