How we helped DoDilly create a brand platform for approachable social media compliance.

Regulatory compliance on social media can be a minefield. One misstep can lead to tens of thousands of dollars in fines.

DoDilly set out to change the game with a platform designed to help brands and creators stay on the right side of the law. However, they needed more than a tool; they needed a brand that could cut through the complexity and resonate with their audience.

That’s where we came in.

At EightySeven, we partnered with DoDilly to design their brand from the ground up. We started by aligning on a focused brand vision, then developed a name that’s as memorable as it is meaningful—DoDilly. It’s a nod to “due diligence,” with a playful twist that sets it apart in a dry industry.

Next, we gave DoDilly a voice that makes complex compliance issues simple and relatable. To top it off, we created the DoDilly “Dood,” a brand icon that brings personality and warmth to the brand, turning a serious task into an approachable experience.

The result? DoDilly now stands out as a dynamic, user-friendly brand that’s not only easy to understand but also easy to love. The platform has carved out a unique space in the industry, becoming a go-to tool for creators and marketers who want to stay compliant without headaches.

Showcasing their smarts by keeping things simple.

Compliance is complex, and the language surrounding it can be dry, dense, and confusing. Many brands, creators, and marketers do not enjoy thinking about it, but not taking it seriously can be costly.

DoDilly was all about making social media compliance easier, so we made it our mission to give DoDilly a brand voice and story that would be easy to love because it’s easy to understand. We aimed to capture attention with personality and punchiness while presenting complex technical concepts with simple, conversational language.

In terms of storytelling, we made it a point to highlight the problems the brand solves and the costs of ignoring them to position DoDilly as the obvious, professional, can’t-do-business-without-it solution.

While laying the blueprint for the brand DoDilly, we realized the potential of making an otherwise complex topic - regulatory compliance, engaging and approachable. The challenge was to create an inviting brand voice and visuals without undermining the importance and severity of the subject.

Think for a moment about the character Flo from Progressive. She isn’t just an insurance saleswoman; she makes selling coverage plans quirky, quick, and easy. Similarly, DoDilly's brand identity mirrors this notion of keeping things simple yet effective.

To breathe life into this brand, we introduced “The DoDilly Dood,”— an expressive brand icon that provides visual cues and empathizes with users on their compliance journey. The whimsical character of the Dood encapsulates the brand's amiable voice, which aims to enthrall users not with jargon and legal Parmesan but with simple, conversational language.

DoDilly's vibrantly colorful aesthetics reflect its playful demeanor. The bold green and neutral hues exude a sense of calm and redefine social media compliance tools' otherwise dull and monotonous blue landscape. It doesn't just stop at being distinctive; it also imbues users with relief and approachability.

In the world of brands, a compelling voice and impactful visuals do much more than lend an identity. They craft a story to stir emotions, leave lasting impressions, and, most importantly, transform lagging entities into lovable ones.

One of the most playful components of the Little Sundays identity is their logo. For a golf brand looking to appeal to families, Little Sundays sits at a unique intersection between ice cream and golf.

For their primary mark, we were inspired by this fusion of sport and sweet treats. Our design team worked variation after variation from scoop and serving size to cone type and drippiness. The result is a melty mix that speaks to the fun of getting a new family into the sport of golf.

With any rebrand, finding a balance between the new and familiar is always a challenge.

On the one hand, the purpose of a rebrand is to introduce a new story and strategy to people. On the other hand, being too different risks a disassociation from what you were and what you are today in the customer's minds.

In the case of SF Tools, we modernized their color palette and typefaces, introduced a new wordmark and mascot, and developed patterns and systems inspired by Shrinkfast’s commitment to design and the science of direct heat.

Our team breathed new life into these fire-breathing heat tools with this updated look and language. We created an entire design system for SF Tools that would ensure brand consistency across various applications.

We also made it as easy as possible for them to replicate the look and move the brand forward, even with limited marketing resources. We then applied that system across their brand essentials, from business cards, email signatures, and uniforms to product stickers, packaging, and their new and improved web experience.

The result was a tough, intelligent, and undeniably badass brand that did justice to its ferociously powerful tools, honored the tough guys they were made for, and opened new doors for a deserving industry leader.

How can you create an opportunity that's bigger than your business today?

Embrace a bigger vision. In the case of Shrinkfast (which we changed to SF Tools), brand a future that’s bigger than “shrink.”

Industrial shrink wrapping is different from the cheaper and less durable “stretch wrapping” it’s often confused for. It has many applications across industries, from winterizing boats and outdoor furniture to securing large and oddly shaped items for shipping. But whenever you’re working with an open flame, safety and precision have to be prioritized.

In a market where safety is often secondary, SF Tools' safe, precise heat tools are far and away the best. The opportunity was to develop a brand that demanded a premium price point with enhanced safety, ergonomics, and features.

We helped SF Tools craft a name. Now, they needed a story, brand identity, and design system that felt premium enough to justify the price point and rugged enough to appeal to the tradesmen who used them if they would get more customers – and industries – on board.

“The Dood” works well in static executions, but much like the platform he represents, he thrives in the digital space, winking, blinking, and directing his way into users’ hearts as he looks out for their interests.

The color palette stands out against critical competitors and expresses a sense of calm and expertise to put users at ease. It’s light, playful, and modern, and like the service, it stands out from the competition.
