We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Dr. Frank Anderson's new memoir, To Be Loved: A Story of Truth, Trauma & Transformation, on May 7th, 2024.

Rarely does a trauma therapist disclose their own trauma history… yet it’s the untold, brutally honest, heartbreaking story that made him the world-renowned trauma expert he is today.

Frank shares an incredibly inspiring story about growing up, not being able to be who he is, recreating childhood dysfunction in his adult life, ultimately coming out, finding love, raising a family, and healing his relationship with his parents.
His story embodies the profound human experience of seeking and receiving genuine love, acceptance, and connection. It signifies the universal longing to be seen, understood, and valued for who we truly are; authentically, wholeheartedly, and in alignment with our deepest truths.

This memoir is a testament to the potential for healing that lives in all of us. We all have our own story, our own trauma, our own truth. By reading Frank’s To Be Loved Story, we hope that you will find yours too.

“Sensation is the language of the body, but it might be a language we haven’t learned.” – Dr. Pat Ogden, Body of Knowledge Card Deck

Take a moment with this SP practice to identify the sensations you're experiencing right now. By increasing our language of bodily experiences, we broaden our understanding beyond emotional or cognitive terms.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes helps therapists make sense of the symptoms and issues of traumatized clients and work with them more effectively.

In this presentation of a recorded Zoom therapy session, Pat is the therapist, and Ava Rose, certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) and method actor, portrays one of her own clients, “Ellen,” who has a history of recent and past sexual abuse, as well as intergenerational trauma.

This session demonstrates working to resolve traumatic arousal with the SP intervention of “sensorimotor sequencing” and using body oriented techniques to elicit active defenses. Since the client froze during previous abuse and tends to freeze currently when faced with challenges, experiencing her capacity to defend is especially empowering.

“When we are with others or out in the world, our attention is usually directed externally, and we can lose touch with our bodies and ourselves.” – Dr. Pat Ogden, Body of Knowledge Card Deck
