We're thrilled to welcome Tom Medvecky as WCMEโs new Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction! ๐ With his passion and expertise, we're confident he'll help our students reach new heights.
Welcome to the WCM team, Mr. Medvecky! ๐
Last week of summer camp and we went out with a bang! ๐ฅ
Students created Geode paintings using analogous warm/cool colors with watercolors, sharpies, and sea salt. They made home made ice cream, took a trip to the pool, learned about different insects and made ice cream bugs. ๐Thank you WCM families for sharing your summer with us. Be sure to join us next summer!
Last week students created an under-the-sea chalk pastel/black acrylic painting. They experimented on how to defy gravity with balloons and if their water towers survive an earthquake. They read about the history of sโmores and even made non-campfire sโmores. We ended the week with an incredible performance of A Little Mermaid by The Panther Playhouse.๏ฟผ
Starting now throughout July, WCME will receive $1 for every ACME Give Back Where it Counts Bag that is sold at ACME on 315 Ocean Street, Cape May. Help support a great cause and give back to our school. ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ
Itโs always a great time at summer school! Last week in STEM students made a human marble run, baked sugar cookies, and measured the real length of a blue whale. In art, they learned about the artist Wayne Thiebaud and created cupcake oil pastel drawings based on his pop art-themed dessert paintings. To top it all off we ended the week with a trip to the Cape May County Zoo. ๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐๐ต๐ฆ๐ฆ
First week of summer camp and students had a lot of fun! They practiced their procedural writing with how to blow a bubble and bathe a woolly mammoth. ๐ In art they created one continuous line varying in line styles and then designed inside spaces with color and pattern. ๐จ And in STEM they learned about force and made the perfect paper airplane. โ๏ธ ๏ฟผ ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ

WCM PROUD!
4th and 6th grade students from WCME and Cape May City Elementary School had an awesome day thanks to Cape May Police Department and the L.E.A.D program. Earlier in the year students learned how to set goals, stand up to peer pressure, and why they should stay drug free. This was the perfect way to wrap up the L.E.A.D program and the year as a whole.
WCME and Cape May City Elementary School took a trip to the Cape May County Courthouse for the One Judge Program today. They learned all about our judicial process, participated in a mini mock trial, played Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader and even got to meet some pretty adorable members of our local law enforcement. Thank you to Judge Kurkowski and staff for giving us this experience.
Thank you to all the families that came out to the Peer Leadersโ fundraiser at Playland's Castaway Cove OCNJ. It was a perfect day for rides, sun and fun! ๐กโ๏ธ๐ข๏ฟผ

๐๐ Our amazing 5th graders took center stage last night, reading their persuasive essays to the Board of Education! They presented compelling arguments for changes they'd like to see in our school, including:
1. โฐ Shortened school days
2. ๐ Student of the Month special lunches
3. ๐ฝ๏ธ A digital lunch account๏ฟผ
4. ๐ Adding library as a weekly special
We are so proud of their thoughtful ideas and passionate presentations. Great job, future leaders! ๐๐โจ
