Getting your colors done is SO fun!! But getting your colors done with a buddy is even better! I love buddy appointments. Mothers/daughter, best friends, even mother-in-laws make for great color companions. It’s really amazing to see how you react to the drapes. It’s also amazing to see how someone else reacts to the same drapes. I feel like having color analysis done with someone can give you a better understanding of the three dimensions of color. I also offer a discount, so grab a buddy, and book your PCA!!

My beautiful friend surprised me. I’ve been looking at her for years trying to figure out her palette. I’m so happy she came to my studio so I could solve the mystery. In hindsight, it’s so obvious, she is rich and muted.😍

Meghan, like many others, lives in a neutral space. Her predominant color dimension is Chroma. Soft and rich colors will balance her, while warm-neutral hues will enhance her golden radiance.

Are you curious where you stand within the 3 dimensions of color?? DM me! I’m currently booking for September.

Color harmony creates a complete, unified image. That means no one feature stands out above the rest. Every element of the image is balanced. This lovely lady is a cool-neutral. She looks most harmonious with deep, and fully saturated colors. I love a classic Dark Winter look. It’s so vogue.

Let’s talk about NEUTRAL tones. Did you know that over 67% of the population is NEUTRAL?!! That means warm, or cool isn’t the most important attribute. As a TCI analyst, I drape my clients based on the three dimensions of color: HUE, VALUE, & CHROMA. For True tones (a little over 30% of the human population) Hue is the dominate color attribute, but for all the NEUTRALS, either Value, or Chroma will be the most important factor.
Look at all these gorgeous NEUTRALS that I had this past week, both Dark Warm-Neutral, and Cool-Neutral. Also a few lovely, soft Cool-Neutrals.

I was reunited with a co-worker from my cosmetic counter days!! We had so much fun talking about all things color.

After decades of dying her hair auburn, she decided to go natural. I love natural hair, but it can be a difficult adjustment. Especially for the warm palettes, who not only loose color pigment, but also warmth. However, your palette does not change based on your natural hair color changing.

It was such a pleasure to show my client new colors, and color combos that harmonize with her natural coloring.

My sweet client has had her colors done before. An online system said she’s a Light Spring (bottom left). A four season method said she’s a Spring (top left). However, using the three dimensions of color: HUE, VALUE, CHROMA, we discovered she is actually a Soft Autumn. The pure, clear colors in the Spring palettes are overwhelming on her soft, delicate coloring. Her most important color attribute is CHROMA, muted and mellow. The clear brightness of Spring is really the opposite of what she needs. Subconsciously, she knew something was off, so she kept searching. When we spoke before her appointment, I told her I was confident we would figure out what was off, and I could provide her with a thorough explanation of where her true color harmony lies. I’d say, mission accomplished.✅

A little history: I had my colors analyzed with my best friend back in 2017. After researching, and obsessing over it for probably a year, I decided I wanted the TCI method to do my analysis. We flew out to Los Angeles to have it done. We discovered that I am a Dark Autumn, and her, a True Summer. Since then she is one of the only True Summers I’ve seen in person. Fast forward 6 years to this past weekend, I finally draped my own True Summer.

Why is this a big deal to me?? Well I’ll tell you, the level of coolness found in the True Summer tone is not common. Around 67% of the population is a neutral tone (meaning they have a combination of both yellow and blue undertones), so when I see someone that is in harmony with the ultra cool True Summer (blue undertone) it is very exciting, and unusual compared to what I typically see.

This weekend was so fun for me, and I very much enjoyed my time with the lovely TSu Megan.💜

The True Summer (TSu) Palette:
Hue*: Cool
Value: Medium
Chroma: Medium to Low

*predominate color dimension

Another lovely Soft Summer!!
Everyone loves the Harmony/Disharmony post, so here’s another. Notice how smooth, and vibrant her skin looks in harmony. You see Marianne, not the drape, when she’s in her specific tone.😍

The Soft Summer
Chroma*=Low
Hue=Cool-Neutral
Value=Medium

*Chroma is the most important attribute for the soft palettes.

I had this lovely Soft Summer in today. I draped her sister a Light Summer, last year. They tell me there is an auburn sister. Genes are wild y’all. I’m here for it!!

Soft Summer = low chroma, medium-dark value, and cool-neutral hue. That means her undertone is blue with a little yellow, but the most important attribute is softness. She needs very low chroma; muted tones.💗

“Dynamic, regal and majestic, the Dark Winter's mixes of warm and cool hues lend themselves to striking patterns, and richly colored designs. Black plays a prominent role among its rich versatile shades of intrigue. Silver and sapphires, rubies and gold, bronze and emeralds, are found within this tone; along with vibrant primaries, crystalline tints, and the deep mysterious hues of indigo, purple and magenta.” Kathryn Kalisz, Sci\ART

Here is where Dark Winter sits between the THREE DIMENSIONS OF COLOR
Hue = cool-neutral
Chroma = medium-high
Value = dark

Value being the predominant color dimension for the Dark Winter (and Dark Autumn).

I had such a blessed time with my clients this weekend. It was my pleasure to work with the lovely Ms. Wilna.💜

Dark Autumn🍂

Hue = Warm-Neutral
Value = Dark
Chroma = Medium to High

Knowing where you live within the three dimensions of color makes all the difference.✨

During your color analysis appointment we do a lot of comparisons. Comparing one thing to another is a great way to recognize color harmony. We’ll find out what your Hue (warm, cool, warm-neutral, cool-neutral) Value (light to dark) and Chroma (bright to soft) are. Then when you leave, you get to take home a swatch book with 65+ examples of colors in your specific tone. It’s the perfect shopping comparison tool. My client says, “I don’t go anywhere without my fan! Keys ✅ phone ✅credit card✅fan✅”

🌺Look at this Light Summer beauty!!!

“The Light Summer tone glistens in the beauty of a summer flower garden. Midway between Summer’s cool pastels and Spring’s warm clarity, the Light Summer, like sweet pea blossoms, brings a sense of quiet gaiety to the soul. Subtle, yet invigorating, the Light Summer hues are a delight to behold.” -Kathryn Kalisz

S.O.S. I am having trouble finding a basic brown tshirt. It’s one of the best autumn colors! Why is it so hard to find?! Looking for something other than a crew neck.📲DM what you find.

Sometimes color harmony can be subtle. My desire isn’t to tell you that you can’t wear your favorite color. Rather, which version of your favorite color is your best. If you love blue, wear it! I love to guide my clients through their three dimensions of color. How warm, cool, or neutral is your HUE?? How strong is your CHROMA?? Where do you sit on the VALUE scale?? During color analysis we answer all these questions on a quest to achieve your personal color harmony.

Erin was a pleasure to have in my studio. Like many of my clients, she was ready for new makeup.

It was determined she is a Soft Autumn. Low chroma, medium tones, and warm-neutral hues are in harmony with her natural coloring.

Then I sent her to the very talented at our local Nordstrom. Based on the information I provided, they were able to come up with several different looks.

For softies, chroma is so important. They can look overdone very easily. When it comes to makeup, a little goes a long way. We don’t want to look like we are wearing makeup, but rather use it to enhance our natural beauty. Natural, or n**e looks are the hallmark of a soft season.💋

24/03/2023

We finally nailed your season, Jan!!🙌🏼

When I met Jan earlier this year, she had already been draped by several other color systems. She some how, over time, was draped in all four main seasons, at one point, or another.

She really likes pink, and a couple of years ago was told she was a summer. But she still felt like something wasn’t right. Her color journey was not over….

When she came to see me, we went through the TCI process. I analyzed not only her hue, but also where she stands with chroma and value. Based on what we saw in harmony (and disharmony), I determined she is a warm-neutral.

What took a little more effort was determining if she has a Summer influence, or Winter influence. It turns out, she needs the depth of Winter, instead of the softness that comes with Summer. That low chroma can really wash a person out, if it does not occur naturally.

Ms. Jan was a bit of a challenge, but I feel really proud and happy for her. The mystery is finally solved. Your color journey is over! Welcome home, you gorgeous Dark Autumn!👏🏼

17/03/2023

Happy St. Patrick’s day!!🍀
Are you wearing your best green??💚

04/03/2023

I love draping sisters!! Or any family members. It’s so fun to see the differences, and similarities. These ladies thought for sure they’d be in different palettes, but they are both soft, cool-neutrals.💙

Color Analysis 101💄

My super talented colleague, Rebecca at Colorpolitan, in Dallas, wrote up this excellent explanation.🌈

Let me know when you are ready to change your life!💁🏻‍♀️

Color Analysis 101: Why not just Warm or Cool and what do you mean by hue/value/chroma?!

Human coloration is diverse, beautiful, and affected by our undertones, our natural skin pigmentation, and the way we’re designed!

Traditional color analysis focused on four true seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn. People were categorized as either an all cool season: Winter and Summer (blue undertones) or all warm season: Autumn and Spring (yellow undertones) or sub seasons that were still only cool or warm.

We now know that the majority of people's undertones are neither just cool or warm but somewhere in the middle = neutral! (warm/neutral or cool/neutral).

Enter the TCI 12-Tone Method. Utilizing the colors found in nature and the three dimensions of color, 8 neutral undertone palettes (cool/neutral and warm/neutral) have been added to the original 4 seasons.

These 12 palettes represent 12 distinct areas of color space and are distinguished from one another based on the three core properties of color; hue, value and chroma.

An in-person personal color analysis with a certified TCI Analyst will show how your undertones react to specific colors and which hue, value, and chroma are best for you!

HUE (Temperature): Are you warm (yellow undertones), cool blue undertones), or warm/neutral (yellow with some blue undertones) or cool/neutral (blue with some yellow undertones)?

VALUE: Are light, dark, or colors in between better for you?

CHROMA: Are colors with brightness and saturation better or do you need colors that are more soft and muted?

This form of personal color analysis is advanced and accurate and truly celebrates our unique coloring!

How great does Tammi look in her soft summer palette?! She’s been growing out her natural hair, and it looks stunning in perfect harmony with the drapes.

As we age, our natural pigments soften, which is why some people loose the rich color in their hair. The new gray sparkle coming in will still be in perfect harmony with the rest of your natural coloring. But I believe wearing your specific color tones becomes even more important.

Not only is harmonious hair color vital to our appearance, but the make up and accessories we put on are also of great importance. We don’t want to change and color ourselves based on personal preference. We only want to enhance our natural beauty, by using color harmony.

Not just any Autumn will do.🍂🍁

🔸The soft autumn drape on the left isn’t saturated enough. It’s underwhelming for this firey redhead. Not to mention how cool it appears, even though it’s a warm-neutral hue.
🔸The dark autumn drape on the right is too deep, and heavy on her. The warm-neutral hue still isn’t warm enough.
🔸Now look at the middle. What do you notice first? The lovely RC, or what she’s wearing??🤔 When we are in harmony, our skin appears clearer, eyes and teeth are whiter, and you can see more dimension in hair and eye color. The drape (or clothing) should always be a compliment to you, not competing for attention.

✨Color harmony isn’t about wearing pretty colors. It’s about a complete picture, where YOU are the focal point.💁🏻‍♀️

Happy New Year!!!🎉

If you are curious about color analysis, message me, or check out my website.👆🏼

I am so excited to start 2023 off with a bang!💥 Appointments are already filling up fast.

I am always fascinated by how color plays out in family genes. So I get really excited when I get to drape multiple family members!! I had so much fun with these ladies. 💗❤️💗

Believe it or not, they are all cool-neutrals, meaning they all have cool/blue-pink undertones mixed with a little yellow, or warmth.🔵🔸

While Emily and Claire are lovely Soft Summers, their mother, Cindy, is a more saturated Dark Winter. 💋

Knowing your personal color harmony is empowering. Wearing your color harmony creates a look of sophistication, elegance and poise. Your skin appears smoother, lifted, and vibrant, even teeth and eyeballs appear whiter. 👁

Color analysis isn’t about what colors not to wear, but which ones look better, on you. 😏
