Vermont Credit Unions
Vermont credit unions are cooperative not-for-profit financial services institutions. Every member is an owner, enjoying better rates and fees.
The Vermont Credit Unions page is supported by the Association of Vermont Credit Unions (AVCU). Over 1/2 of all Vermonters are member/owners of a credit union. Members of Vermont's cooperative credit unions are the owners. Profits are returned to all owner/members by way of reduced rates on loans, higher rates on deposits, and lower fees. All Vermont credit unions are guided by a democratically elected unpaid volunteer board of directors elected by and from the member/owners.

No more hoarding acorns, they said,
Let's share our branches instead!

Among the leaves, our joy keeps advancing.

Vermonters Choose Credit Unions
About 60% of all Vermonters are member-owners of a cooperative credit union. Unlike other financial institutions, members of Vermont's credit unions are the owners. Profits are returned to the members by way of reduced rates on loans, higher rates on deposits, and lower fees. All Vermont credit unions are guided by a democratically elected unpaid volunteer board of directors elected by and from the members.
The average credit union household in Vermont saves about $275 annually in rates and fees compared to other financial institutions. Thatโs about $48 million that credit unions put back into consumersโ pockets.
If youโre not already a credit union member, you could be saving money by becoming one.
