Meet the Farmer: Aulia Khafi

This is Aulia Khafi from Sesongot, a farm we visited last year in Northern Sumatra. Aulia's story deeply moved us; after losing his parents too soon, he continues their legacy through his work, honoring their memory with every step.

The day after our visit, Aulia flew to Jakarta to attend a fermentation clinic, eager to advance his skills in fermentation techniques.

Costa Rica, a place of beauty and contrasts, where ocean meets rainforest, is home to some of the world’s smoothest coffees. Known for their balance of fruity African notes and rich South American chocolate flavors, Costa Rican coffees are a staple in our lineup. Despite our extensive work in Costa Rica, we hadn’t yet explored Gesha coffees in this terroir.

This year, we tasted a variety of high-quality coffees in Costa Rica—leading us to some exciting discoveries. Introducing two new reserve-level Geshas: Copey Gesha, processed with a black honey method, and Volcan Azul Gesha, a natural process. These coffees come from experienced, multigenerational coffee growers who know their land and craft well—working with excellent soil and climate conditions. The black honey process gives the Copey Gesha a rich, sweet flavor. The Volcan Azul's natural process brings out bright, fruity notes. Considering how these processes might taste in Colombia, we're excited about how Costa Rica and these producers create a coffee that is both fruity and smooth—a perfect balance.
