The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation
Our vision is to be a world-class organization having positive, lasting impact on youth, families, and communities around the world.
The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation is recognized as a non-profit public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Most people think that being a professional athlete, that money is no problem. But the truth is, many athletes are broke by their 30s.
โ It was a harsh reality check that inspired Malcolm to take action and is in part the reason that financial literacy became a cornerstone for The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation.
โThis reality is a tough lesson to learn, especially when you become a dad. Financial literacy became priority for Malcolm and it wasn't just about securing his daughters' future, it was about giving them the tools he never had.
โSo with that said, we know thereโs a ton of pressure on your shoulders, so this Father's Day weekend celebrate all you do to make your families proud and all that you do secure their futures.
Happy Father's Day, dads! We know the job is not easy!

Today, we're not just cheering on the adults but also the youth entrepreneurs!
We're thrilled to support Sam Malcolm-Cash, the inspiring owner of Sam's Buckeye Press.
We loved his message that it's never too early or too late to chase your entrepreneurial dreams.
Also, a huge shoutout to Malcolm Jenkins, founder of The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, for offering Sam valuable mentorship and guidance. This is exactly the kind of community spirit that empowers young go-getters to thrive!
Do you know a young person going after their entrepreneurial dreams? Shout them out and how we can find them!
Imagine 2 children. A child living in poverty and one that is not living in poverty.
By two, the child living in poverty is likely to perform worse on tests of language and impulse control.
By kindergarten, the one raised in poverty scores 60% lower cognitively.
By the time those two children are 35 years old, if the first child spent her entire childhood living in poverty, that child is up to 75 times more likely to be poor.
Therefore, poverty traps children before they even start. This cycle of poverty can have a devastating impact on a child's mental health and future. By investing in early financial literacy education, can we prevent this cycle from continuing?
Congratulations to James Martin, Vice President of Santander! He won the Eagles football autographed by TMJF's Chairman Malcolm Jenkins!

A few sponsorship opportunities are still available for those who share our vision. Together, we can create a significant impact in the City of Camden.
While our ultimate goal is to create income that works for us that we donโt work for, there are times when unexpected situations call for immediate action.
There are many ways to bring in extra income and it is good to have some of them as an option particularly in the case of emergencies! From offering pet sitting services to selling handmade crafts online, the "side hustle" world is full of opportunities that can fit your schedule and skillset.
These options are great for anyone, even young entrepreneurs looking for their first taste of financial independence. But remember, the goal is always to create income through avenues such as investing, building a rental property portfolio, or starting a business venture.
The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation will be a registered nonprofit exhibitor at the Regional Economic Perspective - Camden County on Monday, April 29th from 08:00 AM - 10:30 AM in the Adventure Aquarium at 1 Riverside Drive NJ 08103. Stop by and say hello!
Ever heard the saying, "How you do one thing is how you do everything"? Malcolm throws shade on yard work shortcuts, suggesting they might reflect shortcuts in other areas of oneโs life.
Here's the breakdown:
โ
Mindset Matters: Attacking yard work with focus? You probably bring that same focus to other things. Slacking off on the lawn? Maybe you cut corners elsewhere.
โ
Habit Highway: Our actions become habits, shaping our overall approach. Constantly phoning in the yard work? It could influence areas where meticulousness matters.
โ
Character Check: There's a consistency to our character. Someone who prioritizes excellence in one area might strive for it in others.
So, what do you think? Do you agree with Malcolm?
Did you know Black children are often diagnosed with autism later than white children? This means they miss out on crucial therapies and support. Let's bridge the gap and ensure all autistic children have the resources they deserve. โ
Being aware of signs like social differences, sensory sensitivities, repetitive behaviors, and intense interests from toddlerhood can lead to earlier diagnosis and better support for autistic children.
Here are some amazing things about autistic children:
โ๏ธUnique strengths: They often have exceptional talents in art, music, or math!
โ๏ธDifferent perspective: They see the world in a unique way, bringing fresh ideas and creativity!
โ๏ธResilience: They are incredibly determined and can overcome challenges with the right support!
Let's celebrate neurodiversity and raise awareness for autism acceptance and address the disparities that exist!
This Womenโs History Month, we are honored to celebrate the incredible impact of both past and present voices. Today, we shine a spotlight on the remarkable Amanda Gorman, a young woman who continues to carve her path in history. Following in the footsteps of the iconic Maya Angelou, Amanda's eloquence and passion echo a legacy of resilience and hope.
Maya Angelou's powerful presence as the poet laureate for Bill Clintonโs 1993 presidential inauguration, where she delivered her timeless poem โOn The Pulse of the Morning,โ laid the foundation for future generations. Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, and an accomplished writer and cm laude graduate of Harvard University, carries this torch forward with her stirring recitation of "The Hill We Climb."
In times of turmoil, both Maya Angelou and Amanda Gorman have articulated the essence of a nation in transition. Maya's vision of a nation composed of diverse voices resonates with Amanda's call for unity and progress, especially highlighted in Amanda's response to the Capitol riots. Together, they embody the spirit of a nation that is continuously evolving and striving towards a brighter future.
Empower the youth today to shape a legacy of tomorrow that inspires progress and unity. Hi
Born into slavery, Harriet Tubmanโs spirit couldnโt be broken. After escaping north, she risked capture to become a conductor on the Underground Railroad, leading over 70 enslaved people to freedom.
Nicknamed โMoses,โ her bravery and cunning helped change lives. But Harrietโs fight for justice continued. During the Civil War, she became a spy for the Union Army, using her skills to outsmart enemies.
She even led a daring armed raid, liberating hundreds of enslaved people in one mission. Harriet defied expectations, becoming the first woman to lead a military expedition in US history.
Her story is one of courage, resilience, and the unwavering pursuit of freedom. Itโs a reminder that anyone, regardless of background, can fight for whatโs right and make a lasting impact.
Black women are at the forefront of the US entrepreneurial surge, boasting the highest growth rate among founders. Despite this, securing funding remains a formidable obstacle, with traditional avenues often leading to dead ends.
The Fearless Fund, a crucial resource for women of color, strategically invests in promising businesses like Slutty Vegan and Partake Foods. However, lawsuits, such as the one against the Fearless Fund, highlight the challenges faced. The AAER lawsuit argues that grant programs for Black women-owned businesses violate the Civil Rights Act, jeopardizing initiatives supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
To drive change:
๐Invest in Change: Support Black women entrepreneurs by investing in their businesses or contributing to funds like the Fearless Fund.
๐Advocate for Policy Reform: Contact lawmakers to ensure fair access to capital and incentivize investors supporting minority-led startups.
๐Educate and Amplify: Share the stories of Black women entrepreneurs to inspire change, reshape perceptions, and build a more supportive business ecosystem. Every action counts in breaking down financial barriers and fostering equal opportunities.
**It's not just about shopping โ investing in Black businesses builds stronger communities and is vital to closing the wealth gap.
Explore diverse paths: venture capital, angel investing, or supporting Black fund managers. These financial commitments are critical for the launch and growth of Black-owned businesses, unlocking their full potential.
Which method will you choose to make a difference?
At The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, we're leading the way by educating youth on financial literacy including investing and Malcolm Inc., is setting an example with Broad Street Ventures โ a $10 million venture capital fully funded by Black and Brown investors.
We could not let this month pass without highlighting a book that will go down in history, Part 1 of the Story of Malcolm Jenkins. If you have not had the chance, be sure to pick up your copy of โWhat Winners Wonโt Tell You, Lessons from a Legendary Defenderโ and learn the powerful story of one man that started life very early learning the importance of Black history at the Chad School and the life lessons he learned along the way to becoming a 2X Super Bowl Champion, a dedicated philanthropist, a loving father, an accomplished entrepreneur and a fierce advocate for racial and economic justice. But thatโs just the beginningโฆ Stay tuned for more chapters unfolding in his inspiring narrative!
In honor of his unwavering commitment to reshaping the narrative on Black wealth, we encourage you to not only delve into his book but also explore the titles listed below. Let these reads serve as fuel for your own wealth-building journey.
1. PowerNomics by Claud Anderson: Offers new strategies for Black communities to achieve economic justice.

Today is Presidentโs Day and a great day to discuss an initiative started by President Lincoln.
Before we start, the historical narrative surrounding Abraham Lincoln's stance on the abolishment of slavery is shrouded in controversy, with debates about his intentions.
However, what is clear is his stance on the full financial participation of freed slaves in American society.
๐Establishment of Freedman's Savings Bank:
On March 3, 1865, the U.S. Congress chartered the Freedman's Savings Bank with a vision to provide former slaves a secure depository, essential financial education, and practical training in banking skills.
The Freedman's Savings Bank faced a tragic demise and closure in 1874 due to a combination of factors. Mismanagement, lack of oversight, and risky investment decisions contributed to significant financial losses. The collapse of the bank left thousands of depositors, primarily African American freedmen, devastated, losing their hard-earned savings.
As we reflect on the Freedman's Savings Bank, its closure in 1874 serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of financial literacy. Had this succeeded, things could have been different for many families of former slaves.

๐We mourn the loss of Dexter King (Jan 22, 2024), a beacon of hope and a steadfast champion for justice. The youngest son of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, he was a leader who tirelessly worked to carry the torch of his father's vision of nonviolence, equality and peace with dignity and dedication.
As President of the King Center, he was instrumental in ensuring that the flame of change, hope and justice burned bright for future generations, advocating for voting rights, economic justice, and global peace.
We remember Dexter not just for his lineage, but for his own powerful contributions to a more just and equitable society. Let us honor his legacy by continuing the fight for a better world.
Join us in honoring his remarkable journey and committing to the ideals he championed. Dexter King will be laid to rest on Feb. 10 at 6:30 pm EST at Ebenezer Baptist Church. This will be open to the public and live streamed through the King Center.
This Black History Month, join us in honoring the courage of young heroes like Ruby Bridges.
At just six years old, Ruby became the first African American child to desegregate an all-white elementary school. Picture her, so small yet so brave, her hand possibly held tight by her mother or a federal marshal, as she walked past crowds of hostility, facing unimaginable threats and challenges.
Despite the immense pressure and personal sacrifices her family endured, Ruby persisted, choosing education and hope, and standing as a symbol of change at such a tender age.
Ruby's incredible journey reminds us that the youth are not just our future; they are our present, actively shaping our society amidst its complexities, from systemic injustices to economic disparities.
It's our responsibility to nurture their aspirations, to listen to their perspectives, and to empower them to take the lead.

Today we are reflecting on Martin Luther King Jr.'s insights into how systemic oppression contributes to generational poverty and the wealth gap.
Inspired by his words in "Why We Can't Wait," we're committed to bridging the wealth gap and educating youth on financial literacy to combat generational poverty.
Our goals align with Martin's vision, and today, we honor his work through our commitment to economic justice. Exploring historical injustices, Martin emphasized disparities post-Civil War, underscoring the need to address generational poverty. We carry on this mission through our work, aiming to educate vulnerable youth on financial literacy.
We want more students to be able to have proper financial literacy education like Lisbeth. Unfortunately many schools do not have the financial resources to provide such education and thatโs were we step in with our Money Vehicle Financial Literacy education platform. Just $20 educates one student.
With over $15,000 still needed to meet our commitment of educating 1000 students this year, we humbly request your immediate support.
Your donation helps students build money management skills and changes not only their lives but the lives of generations to come.
Please consider giving or referring corporate sponsors and philanthropists who may believe in empowering youth through financial education.
