Always wonderful visitors at Little River Canyon. After enjoying the Canyon Center, the Tucker family walked down to the Falls. Mr. Tucker last visited here in the 90s. Grandma Tucker had never been. She’ll turn 96 in a few days. Nice visit!
Happy holidays from the JSU Little River Canyon Center! Nice to have some water back in the river.

CANYON FEST 2023 is in the can and there are memories a plenty! Guessing we had 1500 visitors including a red tailed hawk, grey rat snake, alligator and a lot of nice dogs. Here are some pictures. Please share yours.
And, special thanks to all who came out, volunteered, worked and organized. It takes a great team.
Don’t miss Canyon Fest tomorrow! 10-3 details below
Fire crews have the wildfire contained and it will now just continue to burn within the middle of the unit....which is about 46 acres. This is a human-caused fire. Whether it was an illegal campfire or irresponsible flick of a cigarette butt (which is litter.....and illegal!), it was caused by someone who did not respect burn bans, warnings, or rules. Although we are not happy with that visitor(s), we are happy, no homes or structures were impacted. We are grateful to our wonderful volunteer fire departments! Broomtown VFD spent time looking for the fire. When they found it, Adamsburg VFD and Dogtown VFD were swift to join in. Alabama Forestry Commission stepped in and helped IC and monitor until NPS crews arrived. We are grateful to our partners that help us protect our resources and our community! Big "thanks!" to fire staff/crews from Buffalo National River, Olympic National Park, and FMO from the National Capital Region! The NPS fire family is big and strong!
All that said, this is still an active fire and Lynn Overlook will remain closed. Concave climbing area is just outside the burn unit and can be accessed, but please stay out of the black, and watch for any weakened trees on the perimeter. Please drive slowly in that area, crews and smoke are occasionally on the road. Hopefully Lynn OL will be open by the weekend. We'll update by then.
Don’t miss CANYON FEST this Saturday! Bring your family, friends and your dog on a leash. Get ready for some fun!
Lynn Overlook and Concave climbing area will remain closed tomorrow...and possibly longer....lots of big trees have been falling. Fire breaks are installed but conditions will be quite different tomorrow. So, to keep everyone safe, no one should be in the west side of the canyon between the Falls and Mushroom Rock.
Notice: there is a fire in the canyon at Lynn Overlook. Fire departments there and on the way. Lynn Overlook and access to Concave climbing area will be closed today...stay tuned, other areas may have to be closed. Please drive slowly in the area. Don't forget we are under a burn ban.
Again, Lynn Overlook is closed, and will be all day. We are also closing the pullout and access to Concave climbing area.
