Lisa Guckelberg Equine Art
Realistic equine portraiture. About the Artist
Lisa H. Guckelberg is largely a self taught artist. This has been her primary area of focus.
She has been drawing and painting since grade school. Born in Indianapolis in 1963, she can render any subject, however, her specialty is and always has been the horses she has loved, ridden, and studied since childhood. She was very fortunate to have had several wonderful mentors and teachers throughout her youth who inspired and encouraged her interest in creating drawings and paintings. Lisa

This is so true.....
Delivery to The Historic Brown County Art Gallery for the fall quarter.
I am truly sorry for the delays.
Life happens...... So much in in the past 2 years, the death of 2 parents, illness, administration of 2 wills, selling of my childhood home, caring for my husband through his illness, the purchase of a farm.......and unfortunately that has put me way behind on requests. Being a one girl show, there is no one to count on as a back up when life gets out of hand....... Which is one of the reasons I only do requests and not commissions. I now have a new studio at our new farm and I am starting with some smaller works to get back in the saddle. Feeling refreshed and excited about the future! Here is a little drawing of Triple Crown winner Justify that I completed yesterday at my new studio with a little help from the barn cats.
Calling this one complete.....
Work in progress....
Rainy Sunday afternoon sketching makes my heart smile....
Too many irons in the fire the past couple of weeks, and I finally got to finish a small work of art........
Completed graphite drawing.
A new group of drawings delivered, and a small work offered for silent auction just inside the entrance. Proceeds of the auction will benefit the Brown County Artists Association.
Busy art day..... Reworking, corrections, progress made, and new beginnings....
Update on this little colored pencil drawing. Still need to adjust the color of the mane, but otherwise it iscomplete
Working on some artwork to take to Nashville on Monday. All new artwork.....every quarter ...
Not completely satisfied..... But I will call it quits on this one before it gets overworked. He will get another chance in a new work of art, as I will be drawing this guy and his buddy numerous times in the near future....
Getting underway on a quick little sketch.....
An attempt to get back in the groove....
This was was a challenge for some reason..... Done?
Not done.... But I made progress.
Update on my earlier post. This drawing is not cooperating with me, but it will eventually! Will let it rest overnight..... I will come at it with a fresh mind tomorrow.
Started a small commissioned drawing this afternoon. Conte crayon on suede board. (same drawing...... A change of lighting effected the background color) 1 hour of time spent so far.
A pencil sketch completed today.
It takes a lot of focus and concentration to create..... and in the interest of being transparent .... today saw a lack of both, resulting in more drawings hitting the trash can than not. Here are two that survived today.
Piles of cats and artwork this afternoon. I think that I will call this small 4 X 4'' Conte Crayon done....
Still some refining to do on this, but here is update #2 for the day on this commission in Conte crayon.
An update on a small Conte crayon commission that I started a couple of weeks ago.
