Dan Hallberg – Security Chief

“There are a few little-known facts about our security team. We wear roughly 20 pounds of safety gear during eight and 12-hour shifts, covering a few miles each shift. The security team is not large, however, we still handle about 100,000 calls a year. This year, we’ve been approved to hire additional positions to handle security needs at our community clinics. Our goal is to have our own security professionals at all the community clinics by the fall. We’re also in the process of hiring crisis stabilization officers (CSOs) who specialize in de-escalation and will be responsible for calls associated with behavioral health and behavioral emergency response (BERT) team calls.

Every week, there’s a new challenge that offers growth and teamwork. We take pride in communicating with patients and staff using compassion. We do whatever we can to fill in the gaps and needs, like offering a wheelchair to a patient who’s struggling with walking, guiding someone who’s lost to their appointment, or comforting someone who just lost their loved one.”

Did you know that road accidents are the leading cause of unintentional deaths in children in the US? You can dramatically reduce the risk of injury by ensuring your child's car seat is properly installed. Starting August 1, Minnesota law is getting stricter on child passenger safety:

“Every driver who transports a child or children under the age of 18 years old in a motor vehicle is required to have the child or children restrained in a child safety seat or seat belt. If a child can be placed in more than one category, then the child must be placed in the more protective category.”

Their hands-on experience in our Simulation Center helped to bring career-based learning to life, creating inspiration for classroom curriculum and their students' future career interests. Melissa Lallak, Laboratory Director

“The laboratory team is a little more behind the scenes, but we support the hospital with a prominent level of expertise. We provide a lot of complex services- dispensing lab test results that help the hospital to provide quality patient care. Approaching problems and finding solutions that align with regulations are challenging, but my team is creative and logical. They reach out to get resources at the right time to accomplish what we need. They solve problems with passion and pay great attention to detail.

What drew me to be a part of Hennepin Healthcare was the mission to the community and the people that chose to work here for that mission. The passion and the dedication to serving our community is beyond anything I have experienced. The ability to meet the needs of the patients makes me proud to work here. This is a great place.”
