2.42 Church

Had an awesome first Sunday of Fall semester!! We started our new series - Falling in Love with Jesus - where different members of our church will be sharing what has led to them “falling in love” with Jesus and continuing to follow him even more deeply through the years.

Josh kicked us off as he talked about being rescued from the evil and mess of the world, and the hope that God is making all things new! Will led us in powerful worship as we sang and prayed about the kingdom coming to Earth, and being unified as humans again.

So good to be back together again! Can’t wait to see you next Sunday 😎🤙🏼

Our last installment of our Who We Are series this summer!
// Complete together. We are broken-hearted over all the violence and hate that exists in this world. The enemy wants us to think we are too different, the enemy wants us to see difference as bad. But God made us different so that we can be complete together!
// It is a beautiful thing when people of different backgrounds, experiences, cultures, languages, and skin color come together and lean on one another. That is the kingdom. That every tribe, tongue, and nation would gather together and be the bride of Christ. Fully honoring each other’s experiences and seeing each other for the wonderful images of God we reflect.

We’ve been on the quad every other Wednesday collecting YOUR questions about spirituality and religion, and you had so many good ones!
This Wednesday we’re going to do our best to respond to them!! Join us as we dive into these difficult questions together and get the opportunity to ask more questions live.
We won’t claim to have the answers, but we think talking about this stuff and trying to wrestle through it together is what faith is all about.

Family dinner every Wednesday at 7pm!

A free meal, a chance to connect with new friends, and fun games! Msg us each week for location!

We had a great time talking with students last week on campus! We gathered spiritual and religious questions while passers by painted rocks and grabbed free snacks. Y’all are thinking through big things and it’s awesome!! We love questions and wrestling through the messiness together.

Allen taught us about the biblical theme of the Good News, aka the Gospel, and how that means so much more than we even realize!

Join us Sundays at 5pm in the LBJ Teaching Theater as we study themes in scripture and how they weave through the entire story of the Bible.

The saga of coffee week 2022….

Monday 85 degrees with full sun after an overcast and drizzly morning //
Some caffeine dependents needed their coffee but no one wanted hot cocoa in this dang heat.

Tues 88 degrees with full sun //
Same story new day.

Wed 40 degrees and overcast //
Kept warm with layers, space heaters, and hand warmers. Many were thankful for a warm drink in the harsh Texas whiplash.

Got to meet amazing students and give a much needed pick me up!! Thanks for coming out bobcats 🐾

Sunday Service 2/20/22 - Back in the teaching theater!!

Will led us in an alternative worship service where we reflected on the brokenness of the world, repented for any part we’ve played, and hoped for all things made new!

Super Bowl Party!!! Had a blast booing crypto commercials together and only mildly caring which team won. Good food, good community, good conversations ✌🏽

Galentine’s Day 2022! Had a great time bonding with some of our girls and celebrating female friendships 🌸💪🏻👩🏼‍🎤🧜🏾‍♀️

Hays Caldwell Women’s Center is more than a shelter for people fleeing violence. They provide resources, counseling, hospital accompaniment, advocacy, and a 24 hr help line. In 2018 there were 212,885 victims of family violence in Texas alone. HCWC is changing lives, but can’t do it without support. Join us in the quad this Tuesday-Thursday from 10am-2pm and donate to HCWC!! 2.42 is matching up to $500 total in donations!

Hello! We’re so excited to be partnering with Hays Caldwell Women’s Center next week and fundraise for their organization!

HCWC is a local nonprofit that provides shelter, resources, essentials, and counseling for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. HCWC’s work is so important and they’re in need of financial support! *And* 2.42 will match up to a total of $500 in donations!

Come out and talk with an HCWC representative and donate next week Tues-Thurs 10am-2pm!

SCW 2021 is a wrap! SCW = Spiritual Challenge Weekend

This past weekend was full of laughs, adventure, connection, tears, and a whole lot of God moving in hearts. Thank you to all who came out and made it AMAZING!

Great worship service this past Sunday! Learned about how God really listens to us and doesn’t dismiss us, despite how omnipotent and great He is. How much more should we listen and not dismiss? 🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Josh dismantling and repairing what evangelism should be 🔥 this series (Dismantle//Repair) has been heavy at times, but so good and needed!

Got into it at Q&R service today. Great thoughts shared all around, and some really encouraging truths to be reminded of!
