Just like we did last year taking supplies to San Antonio during the freeze, we are now going to do the same for our brothers and sisters right here in Florida that have been devastated from Hurricane Ian.
Tomorrow, Tim Ellison and myself are going to rent 2 Penkse trucks. I am going to park one at the Viera Walmart and Tim will park one at the Palm Bay Rd Walmart. We plan to do this tentatively at 1pm tomorrow.
Last year, people simply brought whatever they wanted to donate to the truck and we loaded it up. Those who didn't have anything went into Walmart and bought water or other items and brought them straight out to the truck.
Our goal is to fill both trucks completely. I have contacted both the Mayors of Fort Myers and Naples and also reached out the the Naples Fire Department that was flooded during the storm. We will be coordinating with them to set up distribution points once we get there.
Items needed are:
Water
Non-perishable food
Diapers
Baby food/formula
Pet food
Blankets
Shoes
Clothing
Tents
Generators
Battery packs
Games for kids
and whatever else you think you would need in the same situation.
For those who would like to donate monetarily to help with fuel, truck rental, food, etc can donate to Venmo: Robert-Burns-3rd or Cashapp: $bobbyburns
Just like last time, I will show receipts for all we purchase and show video along the way so that you can see how you've helped those in so much need directly.
Any volunteers who would like to stay and help load the trucks would be helpful. It is very labor intensive.
Thank you all for being such a great community.
This is from what we did last year. https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2021/02/24/brevard-man-drives-30-hours-to-texas-bringing-community-donations/?outputType=amp
