The Diamond State Umpire Association offers experienced, skilled, certified umpires for Little Leagues located in New Castle County Delaware. We are able to provide services for Majors, Juniors, Seniors, and Big League for both baseball and softball. Weekly training sessions are over. On-Field training next week is invite only. More info to come on the scrimmage at the end of the month.

Our 2024 kick-off meeting will be next Thursday 1/18/24 at the VFW in Newark beginning at 7PM. We will be in our normal room downstairs. This meeting will cover administrative items, applications, processes and procedures, changes for 2024, etc.
Training will begin with our next meeting which SHOULD be 1/25 - but that is dependent on a few other pieces falling in to place (i.e. I will be out of town and need someone else to cover the materials).
We will then meet at the VFW the 2nd through 4th Thursdays of Feb and March - all beginning ay 7PM.
Once trainings begin, we will open them up to any junior umpires, or individual leagues that choose to accept the invite and gain a little more rules based knowledge.

Based on excellent turnout and participation at last week's meeting, we will be meeting in person again this week at the VFW.
VFW Post 475 (next to Newark American's Majors field). Use the glass doors to the right, go through the doors and immediately down the stairs to the meeting room on the right. 7PM start.
This week's training Mark Slacum will cover Mechanics, Positioning, and Communication.

REMINDER - Per DSUA Rules: All New and Probationary umpires are required to attend and participate in a minimum of 5 training sessions in order to be eligible for game assignments.
This week's training will cover Rule 6 and Conflict Management/Avoidance.
This week's (2/9/23) meeting will be via Zoom call. We will meet at 7PM using the dial in info below.
We will be covering a high-level overview of Rules 1-5 as well as covering the topic "Don't insert yourself into the game". Please take a moment to think about examples you've seen (or done) where an umpire has UNNECESSARILY inserted themselves in to a game.
