Say your mom is a running coach without saying your mom is a running coach. 🤣 Littlest one laid out her Flat Fourth Grader kit! 📝🚌 🎒

As we reflect on a fun summer with a lot of quality time, there is something special (and a little relieving) about getting back into a bit of a routine. School starts tomorrow!

PSA - while building your busy schedule, remember that your fitness is a priority. It’s not selfish. You can’t show up for them without taking care of yourself. Period. The kids are watching you!

What you see on your social feed isn’t always real - in my experience we parents are in the thick of it. It is far from glamorous and we are squeezing things in the best that we can. TBH that’s why you don’t see a lot of selfies on my page (maybe I should rethink that and show more of the grind 🤔).

This is a great time of year to establish or reestablish habits and set yourself some goals. You can accomplish a LOT by winter break if you get started now. Let’s go!

The kids are watching! I LOVE how excited my little one is about the Peachtree Road Race. 🍑🌳 I have the honor of running as a push assist athlete with the again this year. Then, I’ll find her on the course and cheer her and her village of supporters to the finish.

Things have changed for the better in racing. There is more to do but this child knows and expects (demands) inclusivity. Swipe to see the detail of the picture she drew. 🦽🏃‍♀️💟

Joan Benoit Samuelson Earns Her Six-Star Medal at Tokyo Marathon 07/03/2024

I was 8 years old when I watched her win the first women’s Olympic Marathon. I remember thinking “I can do that.” Not quite the Olympics, but I’m at 23 marathons and counting.

40 years later she just earned her sixth world major star. I’m still thinking “I can do that.” Only two to go. The hardest part now seems to be getting the bibs (London and Tokyo).

The power of strong role models for girls is real.

New Year’s Resolutions 👎
Goals and Intentions 👍

Goal Setting Run / Walk - Sunday, January 7th @ 7:30 am. Meet at Riverside Splash Park, 575 Riverside Rd., Roswell.

Rather than solely relying on resolutions, let’s think about the systems and habits that we can put in place to support our ambitions. A group of friendly runners provides a built in support system (easy and automatic 😉⭐️).

LET’S CHALK UP OUR GOALS 📝

Before our in-person run, I’ll have sidewalk chalk for us to write down our goals. Research shows that the act of writing down our goals significantly increases the likelihood of achieving them. By putting pen to paper (or in this case, chalk to sidewalk), we solidify our intentions and create a tangible reminder of what we’re working toward.

This Sunday, bring your aspirations, whether they’re related to running achievements, personal milestones, or any other goals you’re aiming to conquer. They can be as simple or complex - as long as they are yours and not what you think others want for you! We’ll take a moment before our run to find a spot and collectively write them on the pavement, right where we start our run (and our journey into 2024).

This is a bit of a creative way to manifest our aspirations but also a chance for our us to support each other’s ambitions.

Remember, the power of writing down our goals lies not just in the act itself, but in the reminder it provides every time we lace up. For those of you not able to meet up in person - chalk your goals where you are, snap a photo and tag on social. We’ll share and support you virtually.

I love the snug season of Twixmas! 🎄✨ The blissful pause between Christmas and the New Year, is the ideal time to unwind and set the stage for many happy miles in 2024.

Some tips for making the most of this in-between week:

1️⃣ Reflect on your achievements and lessons from the past year’s races and training. You really are amazing!

2️⃣ Plan your 2024 race schedule considering distances, locations, and terrain diversity. Don’t be afraid to try something new or challenging. You are capable of more than you think.

3️⃣ Evaluate, organize and update your gear. Clear the clutter and donate items you don’t use ( is a great option).

4️⃣ Set realistic running and fitness goals for the new year, aligning them with YOUR personal aspirations.

5️⃣ Stay active with light runs or cross-training to maintain consistency and fitness while allowing your body and mind a bit of recovery. Starting over is hard, so don’t stop. And if you’ve stopped, the best time to start is today.

Enjoy this cozy time and hit the ground running strong in 2024. 💪🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️✨

That rhythmic crunch of leaves helps to quiet the noise. 🌟 Amidst a bit of chaos, a run along this trail feels like a sanctuary—a chance to reset, breathe and rediscover clarity. 🌿✨ Running is more than running, especially during the holiday season. Not only does it fuel our bodies it nourishes our minds and gives us a minute to just “be.” It's moments like these that remind me why I lace up every day. 🙌💫 It’s not selfish to take a moment - and it’s worth the effort.

Halloween costume choice between and (both slay in their own way). Des won.

•Olympian
•Boston Marathon Champion
•Masters World Record Holder

Des might be a reluctant role model but that’s what makes her so inspiring. Her quiet strength, resilience, and grit have left a lasting impression on my little one. 🙌

She saw Des win on that rainy day in Boston. Conditions didn’t allow for many photos, in fact, the only one I can find is one is of her asleep on her dad’s shoulder at our post race lunch - wiped out from a huge day of spectating. That’s a solid core memory.

Winning looks different to everyone. You and I won’t win Boston or set a world record, but our kids, and if you don’t have kids, your friends’ kids are watching. It's important for them to see us working hard, chasing after our goals, struggling through setbacks, and taking care of ourselves physically and mentally. That’s how WE win.

When they see our medals and ask “Did you win?” We can confidently answer YES!

Happy Halloween, and here's to doing our best to raise strong, determined, and inspiring young individuals! 🎃

PS: Taylor - All Too Well (10 minute version) is one of the best running songs ever.

🏃‍♀️💨 As a runner in my mid-forties (upper-mid, is that a thing?), I found myself in a SEA of men last weekend for most of the ATL 10 Miler. I saw an old friend from my high school track team (Go ‘Rocks ☘️) at the finish and it reminded me of the days of pushing boundaries practicing with the boys team at track practice approximately one-hundred years ago. Ok, thirty. My goodness, that was forever ago and also yesterday.

But you know what? Age is just a number, and running has always been about the individual journey. Even back then! I might not have completely realized it then, or even 5-10 years ago, the older I get, the more I understand. 🙌 I guess wisdom is funny like that.

No matter who surrounds you on the road, the track, the carpool line, the volunteer assignment, the conference room table, remember that the only person you're competing against is yourself. It's about your pace, your progress, your personal betterment, and preserving your peace of mind. 🌟

Whether you’ve been running (really, you could insert any verb here) since the days of 100% cotton t-shirts like me, just starting your journey, or are somewhere in between, there is a quiet strength and determination that unites us all. Keep pushing YOUR limits, because in the end, your biggest, and your only competitor is the person you were yesterday. 🏁💪

Berlin was a fantastic adventure. 4th World Major Star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 9th World Major (I stopped repeating), marathon #22 or #23 (I've lost count!), and 16th Boston Qualifier. 🦄

I made training FUN, embraced balance, and “ran with zeal.” 🦓 With three busy kids in three different schools, a constantly traveling husband, and a small business, it was essential to find equilibrium. And you know what? It made all the difference.

Berlin was logistically easy and I was thrilled to see a few familiar faces in the corral - the running world is SMALL! My friend Mike from ATL was lined up right next to me! I met Max and Michael, a push-assist duo that is on track to be the first team to complete all 6 World Majors! 💪

Seeing Gene D***s, one of my heroes was a good omen. He’s the “Ultra Geezer” who held the marathon age-group world record 70-75. Like all of us, he keeps getting older and is now chasing the world record for the 75-80 age group. I’ve had the pleasure of being passed by him in several marathons including this one!

I ran Berlin strong enough to feel proud, smart enough to be consistent (listened to my own coaching advice), and had my eyes and heart open to the sights and people around me. I had enough energy to smile from start to finish and high-fived kids along the way.

The best part, I enjoyed the most memorable vacation with my family after the race. The 'stair test' proved it - I could climb the bell towers without a hint of pain. Past races, it would take me four days to do steps properly. 🏰 IYKYK

There is a lot of truth in the words “my pace, my peace.” It’s okay to take the pressure off and enjoy the journey. I may have said 100x that I'll never train through another Atlanta summer, but looking back after a bit of rest, it wasn't so bad after all. I will probably do it again knowing there is an adventure on the other side of all the sweat. 💦

Here's to all of us chasing our dreams with a sense of joy and balance. Cheers to finding our own pace and celebrating the journey as much as the finish line! 💪🏃‍♀️

💪🏃‍♀️⭐️ Exciting news! I am thrilled and honored to be a push assist athlete in this year’s Peachtree Road Race, alongside my friend Sierra. She’s been busy since our last run together in March. Sierra’s determination and grit have been nothing short of inspiring, including her recent graduation from high school and completion of her first Ironman! 🎓🏊🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️🏃‍♀️

None of this would have been possible without the groundbreaking efforts of the The Kyle Pease Foundation and the unwaivering support of their generous donors. I’m truly grateful for their commitment to inclusion and making dreams come true.

To support Sierra’s inclusion in the PTRR and continue the impactful work of the Kyle Pease Foundation, I kindly ask you to consider making a donation to my fundraiser. Your support will go a long way in creating opportunities for athletes like Sierra to push boundaries and achieve their goals. 🙏❤️
