It's crucial to safely share the road with motorcycles, bicycles, buses, large trucks, and pedestrians. Each of these road users has rights and responsibilities, just like you. Follow these tips to avoid crashes and injuries:

1. Stay Alert:
Keep your eyes on the road and avoid distractions.
2. Give Space:
Maintain a safe distance from motorcycles and bicycles.
3. Be Patient:
Large trucks and buses need more time to maneuver and stop.

Remember, the roadway is an extension of your home and workplace. Drive responsibly and keep EVERYONE safe.

As part of a collaboration between the Office of Emergency Management, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, and the Extreme Weather Task Force, the following community centers have been activated as cooling sites beginning Tuesday, June 11 until further notice.

They are open Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A heat advisory is in effect from 9am on Wednesday June 5 at 9pm on Thursday June 6 - temperatures of 103 to 106 expected.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air - conditioned room. stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside:
- Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing
- Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening
- Take frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments

March is Women's History Month and here at EPPD we have 171 female officers across the department and about 66 on patrol.

We are highlighting some of those on patrol, starting with Ofc. R. Guzman from Pebble Hills Regional Command, Ofc. D. Arredondo from Central Regional Command, and Ofc. C. Campa from Mission Valley Regional Command.
