We wanted to inform you of a change in our schedule for the year 2024. Unfortunately, we have decided to discontinue our LIVE in-person tournaments for the 2024 Season and foreseeable future. We understand that this may come as a disappointment to some of our members.
We are still committed to providing opportunities for our friends and followers to showcase their skills and compete with fellow fishermen. As such, we will be exploring alternative formats for possible future endeavors. Plus we encourage you to join our friends at and that are working on LIVE ln-Person Events for 2024.
We have been more than an happy that the page is your go-to source for all things related to kayak fishing!
As we continue on and look to reinvent ourselves. We will work with Paddle N' Fin Podcast Media over the winter to provide you with four to five weekly podcasts regarding kayak fishing including our own Rusty Hook Kayak Fishing Podcast. Our aim is to provide you the latest insights, news, articles, and information related to local, state, national events as well as videos and podcasts from relevant sources and true kayak anglers like you.

Our Angler of the Year Race was another race to the finish! This year it came down to the Two Day Championship. 5 points separated Mark Edwards and Buddy Vance going into the weekend. Mark was able to hold Buddy off by one inch over the two day championship! Congratulations to Mark Edwards, your WVKA 2023 Angler of the Year! Mark not only won our Clubs AOY but Completed the Triple Crown! He is also the Angler of the Year in SWVKA and MSKA! What a huge year for a great Angler and an even better person! Congrats Again Mark!

We had some great weather this weekend for the 2023 WVKA Two Day Championship at Sutton Lake/Elk River Presented by Mountaineer RV & Outdoor Center. We had a tight finish after two full days of fishing but Storm Carver pulled out the win with a two day total of 156 inches. That was enough to hold off Mark Edwards and Buddy Vance who finished with 153 and 152 to claim second and third place! Rick Garavaglia took home the big bass pot with a 20.25 inch Small Mouth. That wraps up our season for 2023. Thanks to all of our great sponsors and thanks to all the great anglers that have fished with us!

We will also be releasing the anglers that have qualified for the 2023 West Virginia State Kayak Fishing Championship October 13th and 14th!
