"After leaving out of the store today my daughter did something that really made me stop and think. There was this guy sitting there crying and she asks me 'did you see that man crying? What's wrong with him?' I said yes but I'm not sure maybe he's just sad...She said, 'maybe he's hot and thirsty' she walked over to him and goes 'hi sir be happy it's a nice day it's not raining. Are you hot? Why don't you go home the ground is dirty?' He says I have no home but I will be ok. She looked at him with the saddest face and goes 'so that means you're homeless. So you have no food because you have no refrigerator.' She gave him a few dollars out of her purse and her drink and said, 'Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald's you should go there.' I could tell she made his day. On top of that 2 more people came up and gave money as well. We had a small conversation and he explained his trailer burnt down and he lost everything including his wife. I felt for him. It just warms my heart. A 6 year old lead by example this morning. AWESOME! Kids see no color and that's exactly how it should be. It's not just a statement saying that the children are our future, it's a FACT. That gives me a little more hope for the world."

In Chandler, Arizona, Doug is a loyal customer at Arby's restaurant. Actually, he's the most loyal customer they have there. Doug is a 97-year-old World War II veteran, and has long loved the famous roast beef sandwiches on which the chain has built its reputation. Doug comes in every single day to enjoy a meal with his favorite sandwich. He almost always orders a Swiss cheese filled roast beef slider and a Coke with no ice. All the staff members there have memorized that as his “usual.” After quite a while, one of the employees, Travis Coye, wanted to know more about this elderly man, and why he had such a fascination with the food they serve there. So he asked him why he keeps coming there; why that location? Doug replied, saying: “This is the only place I can get a sandwich or get anything else to eat that doesn’t hurt my stomach.” Actually, it may be closer to the truth that he likes the sandwich so much that he stopped looking for alternatives. Doug lives in a nearby retirement home, but always makes sure to get his daily meal at Arby's. And he has his own favorite table where he enjoys it. The staff there treats him as much like family as possible and staff members go out of their way to make him comfortable. Says the manager there, Christina Gamage: “He comes in with a walker, as soon as we see him come to the doors, we try [to] grab the doors for him. He’s gone through a lot being a veteran, coming in, being in a retirement home, but he doesn’t have family.” Doug is such a loyal customer and really good guy that one day the staff pitched in and got him a $200 gift card. He thought at first they were joking, but it was definitely real, and Doug told them: “Thank you. I never know if I’ll be here the next day, but thank you so much for this.” But what might be even more important than that... at least, more meaningful... is that many of the staffers gave Doug their phone numbers in case he needed anything. And they all offered to bring him his favorite meal to the retirement home in case he could not make it there. Then, after Doug's story made national news, Arby's gave him another gift... free food for the rest of his life. Now he never has to worry about where his next meal is coming from, giving him more time to make more friendship.❤️🥹🙏🏽

Every month Martín’s parents took a trip to see Grandma and came home on the same train the next day. One day the child said to his parents:
“I'm already grown up. Can I go to my grandma's alone?"
After a brief discussion, his parents accepted. They stood with him as he waited for the train to exit. They said goodbye to their son and gave him some tips through the window. Martin repeated to them:
“I know. I've been told this more than a thousand times."
As the train was about to leave, his father murmured in his ear:
“Son if you feel bad or insecure, this is for you!"
And he put something in his pocket.
Now Martin was alone, sitting on the train as he had wanted, without his parents for the first time.
He was admiring the landscape out the window. Around him some unknowns pushed themselves in. They made a lot of noise. They got in and out of the train car. The conductor made some comments about him being alone. One person looked at him with eyes of sadness.
Martin was feeling more uneasy with every minute that passed. And now he was scared. He felt cornered and alone. He put his head down, and with tears in his eyes, he remembered his dad had put something in his pocket. Trembling, he searched for what his father had given him. Upon finding the piece of paper he read it:
“Son, I'm in the last train car!"
That's how life is, we must let our kids go. We must let them try new things. But we always like to be in the last car, watching, in case they are afraid or in case they find obstacles and don’t know what to do. We want to be close to them as long as we are still alive.
