As I warned in April of 2023, the actions of right-wing extremist Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir to bless settler violence, incite violence against Palestinians, and threaten annexation of large portions of the West Bank and now Gaza, amount to pouring gasoline on an open flame. Their latest comments must be condemned, as must any efforts to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza.

Connolly Condemns Calls for Resettlement of Palestinians Outside Gaza Today, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), a senior member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and President Emeritus of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, released the following statement in reaction to calls by Ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir to resettle Palestinians outside Gaza.

We can't allow Donald Trump's plan to purge and politicize the civil service to only be of concern to federal employees and a few Members of Congress.

This threat can't be overstated, and I'm going to continue to raise the alarm.

The fight to stop a cornerstone of Trump's 'retribution' agenda is underway At issue is Schedule F, an executive order signed by Trump that would make it easier for a president to fire government workers.

Was great speaking this morning at the groundbreaking for the FIRST 100% affordable housing development in Tysons! Affordable housing has always been a top priority of mine, and I’m proud that our federal dollars will help build over 500 new units and a new community center.

The recent truce between Hamas and Israel was a welcome respite from the conflict and tragedy of the past two months. More humanitarian aid reached those who desperately needed it, rocket attacks and bombardments stopped, and hostages were finally released. I am dismayed to see this fragile ceasefire fall apart following rocket attacks by Hamas and a warning from the leader of Hamas in Gaza that the October 7th attack that claimed the lives of 1,200 Israelis was ‘just a rehearsal.’

Israel has a right and responsibility to hold accountable Hamas terrorists, and I support all efforts to free the hostages taken by Hamas, including American citizens who are still being held hostage.

Secretary Blinken was clear when he spoke with Israel’s war cabinet this week: Israel must change its direction. The way in which Israel has indiscriminately bombed Gaza in response to Hamas’ barbaric attack has taken an utterly unacceptable toll on the civilian population. Secretary Blinken has stressed that following the rupture of a ceasefire, Israel must adopt different tactics to address the threat from Hamas, protect civilians, especially children, and ensure robust humanitarian aid enters Gaza, including fuel, water, food, and medicine. I fully concur.

While the current situation of despair and tragedy clouds the horizon, our ultimate goal must remain a path towards lasting peace and a two-state solution that allows Israelis and Palestinians alike to pursue their lives free from the threat of violence.

Happy Diwali to everybody celebrating the festival of lights! I wish you and your loved ones brightness, hope, and happiness during this joyous holiday.

Today we honor and celebrate our veterans who have served and protected our country.

This , join me in thanking all the veterans who have given so much to defend and protect us.

Honoring our veterans this morning at American Legion Post 177. We have an obligation to our veterans and their families to support and protect them with better resources and care. I look forward to continuing to be a steadfast advocate for all veterans in our country.

It is clear that the site selection process for the new FBI headquarters has been irrevocably undermined and tainted, and this decision must now be reversed.

The safety and security of civilians in Gaza and Israel must remain our paramount concern.

For the past three weeks, Republicans have had a decision to make: abandon extremism and work with Democrats on a bipartisan path forward, or double down on the bigotry, hatred, and authoritarianism that have defined their party as of late.
