🚨 Our Opinion on LifeVac 🚨

You may have recently seen LifeVac at Costco or on social media ads and wondered if it's worth the hype?

The FDA in the U.S. has issued a safety communication about these anti-choking devices, stating that their safety and effectiveness are not established and they are not FDA-approved. While the FDA is a U.S. agency, we are following consumer reports from both the U.S. and Canada.

Experts recommend sticking to proven techniques like abdominal thrusts and back blows, endorsed by the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. Research on LifeVac is limited and mostly involves manikins and cadavers, raising concerns about its real-life reliability.

For a similar cost, you can take a CPR class to learn how to handle choking emergencies for all ages and even how to save yourself when choking. Remember, the abdominal thrusts and back blows has a long history of proven effectiveness.

We're thrilled to announce our newest Life Start Training franchise will be opening in Charlottetown in June! 🥳

Please help us welcome Braedyn and Devin Atkin!

Having moved to Prince Edward Island from the Prairies in the summer of 2021, they quickly fell in love with the island and decided to make it their home.

Braedyn and Devin have seamlessly integrated into the community, with Braedyn working as an insurance broker and Devin serving as an athletic therapist for the Charlottetown Islanders. Their family, including their teenager Kendra and toddler Harper, have become true Islanders, with locals often remarking that Harper, born here, is the only “true” Islander among them.

We must have left a good impression on Braedyn when she took a class with us last fall because here they are opening a franchise!

They are both incredibly excited to open their Life Start franchise and serve Charlottetown and many other areas of PEI with top-notch first aid training Life Start style.

Imagine the unimaginable; last month, Colin Sullivan, a 42-year tax lawyer from St. John's NL, faced a life-threatening situation while playing hockey. His heart suddenly stopped on the ice—a situation that has an out-of-hospital survival rate of less than 10%. However, thanks to quick-thinking teammates and an AED (automated external defibrillator), Colin got a second chance at life! 💙

Colin had experienced heart rhythm issues. He loved playing and coaching hockey. As he felt light-headed during a game, his friends recognized the severity. A call to 911, chest compressions, and the AED shocking him back to life—these actions saved Colin.

Now, he's back at the rink, appreciating life's little joys. Colin emphasizes the need for CPR training and advocates making AEDs as common as fire extinguishers. His near-death experience has inspired a commitment to promoting life-saving skills everywhere.

Medical personnel promptly administered CPR on the field, and he was subsequently transported to the hospital. Astonishingly, a mere 9 days later, he was discharged from the hospital.

Well, he’s making some waves off the football field this week! 🏈🌟 He has just launched a remarkable initiative called the CPR Tour in Buffalo! 🙌

He is promoting CPR awareness and education in his community. ❤️📖 With his CPR Tour, he aims to empower people with life-saving techniques and knowledge that can make a real difference in emergencies.
