RTS Severe Weather Policy

 Bus service is suspended when winds reach sustained 35 mph Bus service is suspended when winds reach sustained 35 mph
 May ask operator to find suitable shelter or buses return to RTS facility
 Patrons on buses are taken to final destination or must shelter on bus in extreme situations
 If main facility is damaged, then have buses staged at other locations so that we can assist with evacuations or other needs
 We have not had an instance where UF classes were in session and the policy was implemented.

Hurricane Ian RTS Service Update 9/30/2022 Alert:

Friday September 30th, RTS will resume with a reduced service schedule

Saturday October 1st, Regular Service Resumes.

Sunday October 2nd, RTS will run Regular Service with Game Day Detours.

We regret Regional Transit System riders were unable to access either the GNV RideRTS app or website, Riderts.app/home.

City staff had begun the process of renewing the SSL certificate Aug. 4, well in advance of its expiration date. Upon learning of connection issues, staff worked with the provider to restore validation of the certificate required for app and internet security. We believe a change in the name of the City’s Transportation department led to the connection issues, and are establishing additional protocols to prevent recurrence.

The GNVriderts.app sites are currently down. We are working on the issue and apologize for any inconvenience.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS) has scheduled two community outreach sessions in April. The event are designed to gather feedback from neighbors about two proposed RTS express routes as well as possible changes to routes 24 and 27.
When: 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 6
Where: Senior Recreation Center, 5701 NW 34 Blvd.

When: 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 27
Where: Alachua County Health Dept., 224 SE 24 St.

RTS is proposing the addition of two routes featuring a limited number of stops, Compass North-South and Compass East-West. A North-South route would run between the North Walmart Supercenter and Meridian Behavioral Healthcare. An East-West route would run between the Butler Plaza Transfer Center and the UF Health Science Center, with possible expansion to the Eastside Transfer Center (once built). Possible changes to routes 24 and 27 include stops to service more neighbors.
To help ensure public health and safety, neighbors are asked to practice social distancing at the events.

March 26, Route 15 detour

Saturday, March 26, 2022. Only Route 15 will be affected. The bus will use NE 15th Street to NE 28th Avenue to NE 14th Street to NE 31st Avenue to NE 15th Street outbound and NE 15th Street to NE 31st Avenue to NE 14th Street to NE 28th Avenue to NE 15th Street inbound to circumvent the road closure.

 Patrons on buses are taken to final destination or must shelter on bus in extreme situations
 If main facility is damaged, then have buses staged at other locations so that we can assist with evacuations or other needs

Routes 20, 21, 118, 125 and 126 will be first affected by the Museum Road from Gale Lemerand to Woodlawn road closure starting March 14th.
Route 20: Outbound: – Right onto Hull Road. Right onto Museum Drive. At Roundabout, Left onto Radio Road.
Inbound – From Museum Road, Left onto Fraternity Drive. Continue to Stadium Road.
Route 21: Outbound: – Continue Mowry Road. Right onto Hull Road.
Inbound – From Museum Road, Left onto Fraternity Drive. Continue to Stadium Road.
Route 118: Outbound: – From Gale Lemerand Drive, Right onto Stadium Road. Continue to Fraternity Drive.
Inbound – From Museum Road, Left onto Fraternity Drive. Continue to Stadium Road.
Route 125: Outbound: – From Center Drive, Continue Mowry Road, then quick right onto Hull Rd.
Inbound – No change.
