Somedays the work we do is rewarding, other days God makes us wonder why. Today was one of the later. While feeding this morning i found the dwarf nanny goat in labor. I have feared she wouldn’t be able to deliver the baby for quite some time because the billy goat that impregnated her is 4 times her size, she was only in with him for 3 days!!
so of course I noticed the complications. After a few phone calls to people who know goats better then me i tried to assist her on the delivery but wasn’t getting anywhere so i wound up calling a vet in Eddyville. We get there and he was super knowledgeable and was able to deliver the baby but also told me he never atood a chance since coming from such a bigger billy goat. So nanny goat is relaxing by herself for a few days while being monitored. I’m just grateful I don’t have a dead goat on top of everything. Here’s to the days to come and hoping she recovers.

Feed time this morning. Now the cows are grazing between grass and hay and just chilling in the sun.

We were able to make a trip to Fredonia today and purchased a Black Angus Cow and her calf (also a heifer) from the 2022 calfing season. Pics to come!

We have made a deal and have finalized and copyrighted this logo. Effectively immediately this is the logo for and owned by Hancock Farms Of West Ky, LLC which in return is 100% owned by Sean S Hancock.

I am so excited to be able to bring all this about and share with all of y’all what I’ve been able to achieve in such a short period of time.

As always thank you from the bottom of my heart for the continued support. None of this would be possible without any of y’all. I love each and every one of you.

A special shout out has to go to my grandfather, Ruby H Hancock. I love him and miss him so much. I’m also very grateful he gave me this opportunity to be able to carry on our family tradition. My only hope is that 1 day I can be half the farmer he was.

Cows ✅
Goats ✅
Chickens ✅

Buying and locating these animals in the last 6 MONTHS has really turned into a working operation. Been a lot of hard work a lot of phone calls/ texts and a WHOLE LOT of driving. It has been worth it. All 3 animals I wanted this farm to specialize in have been bought and brung to the farm.

Now all thats left to do is more fencing and more purchasing/breeding to keep it running.

Hope my kids realize one day this was only 1/2 of the battle and that I’m doing it all for them so they won’t have to rely on a grocery store.

The start up of this farm and to see how far its come in the last 6 months is truly amazing. I have awesome support, great friends/family and the greatest job in the world being the owner/operator of this farm.

It may be small but this is just the beginning.

This ol boy is HAPPY to say my garden is FINALLY starting to come in. Watermelons, cantaloupe, and squash are being a little stubborn… but they are producing vines and leaves on squash. Hopefully be able to eat some home grown food sooner rather than later!!
