My new friend Linda wrote me and asked about the effects of fluoride so common in toothpaste and oral hygiene products. This was my reply;
“To answer your question about fluoride, the answer is simple. Fluoride penetrates and coats the enamel on your teeth, causing it to harden. That’s always been the purpose from the standpoint of the ADA.
The problem is that in the process it also has serious consequences for a variety of reasons.
It blocks the demineralization process.
This is the body’s way of healing hard tissues, bones, teeth. When bones or teeth get injured they send out an electrical signal to the brain to activate the demineralization process that sends elements from storage in other parts of the body into the affected area to repair the damage.
This same process also does maintenance for bone density as well as repairing the dentin ( enamel).
It does this via the saliva gland under the tongue, sending a variety of nutrients into the mouth to merge with the inevitable tiny cracks and cavities that come with usage.
Fluoride blocks the nutrients from penetrating, so those nutrients build up on the surface of the teeth and begin to accumulate plaque that harbors bacteria and other toxins. That’s why regular cleaning is an integral necessity of modern dental hygiene.
So basically they’ve managed to swap actual healing for chemical window dressing. Nice hard enamel full of cracks and holes and a germ farm coating the whole mess . Sensitivity issues also follow as a result of these openings in the enamel.
These factors have artificially created an entire industry based in large part on the use of fluoride.
Another culprit that block the healing process is glycerine, an additive used in many dental products including toothpastes and mouthwash.
Fluoride also is responsible for prolonged knitting of bone fractures and breaks and research has shown that it causes reduced bone density by blocking the remineralization process of maintaining bone density.
There is a long laundry list of other side effects of fluoride that, on their own, should keep us far away from it. It is a carcinogen for one. Another side effect is docility, affecting the brain’s ability to support survival instincts.
The list goes on and on.”

So once in a while I take the opportunity to make improvements on products I thought had already evolved as far as they could. This time making a new batch of toothpaste I concentrated on creating a better viscocity. I've always made it as thick as I could, but customers and friends noticed that it settled in the bottom of the tube, making it difficult to get the last bit out.
So I made it thinner this time and reduced the or***ce size in the cap. See what you think.
