Most NC adults don’t support private school voucher expansion, new WRAL poll shows The poll, conducted by Survey USA, asked 900 adults about the nearly $300 million planned spending on vouchers for this year, with no limit to family income for eligibility.

The NC Senate voted today to add $248 million for vouchers to clear the waitlist. The waitlist is mostly wealthy families. This is a complete abdication of their responsibility to the state.

Public Schools First NC is devastated about this vote. We have advocated for the last TEN years against this misuse of our public schools. There are other waitlists that are full of low-income families such as for NC Pre-K. The voucher waitlist is majority wealthy families who make 2X or more what our most veteran teachers make. This is a scam. Keep public dollars in public schools!
