***UPDATE (6:30 pm) - dog has been reunited with its owner!

FOUND DOG - female Yorkie mix, approximately 10 lbs, no collar or microchip. Found in the area of Wright-Patt Credit Union early this morning.

We’ve received multiple reports this weekend regarding cats at a home on Nomad Avenue in Dayton. Our Humane Society Agent has already visited the residence twice, and this is an ongoing investigation. Although many are calling for immediate action, our agents must adhere to legal protocols to ensure the integrity of the case. Our Humane Society Agents are currently working with both Harrison Township officials as well as Social Services to ensure the cats are cared for and the owners involved with this case receive the help they also need.

When it comes to neglect investigations in particular, these cases often take longer than anticipated. We strive to work with the owners to improve conditions and provide support, but if the animals' lives are at risk, we will take more serious actions. We want to be transparent that cruelty and neglect cases can be complicated and take weeks or even months to resolve.

While we are dedicated to animal welfare, we must operate within the law, which sometimes limits what we can and can’t do. We appreciate your vigilance in reporting this situation, as it allows us to assist both the animals and their owners. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

You know what’s frustrating?? Heartbreaking?? 💔 Having a shelter reach out that they’re at capacity, have to euthanize for space and most of the dogs that are dying are owner surrenders who KNEW at drop off their family dog is about to die, alone. This is a 10 month old doodle mix (Aussie?) female. Her family bought her and “had no idea they’d have to pay for grooming” so they sent her off to die. Well, we can’t stand it!!! So, who wants to foster or foster to adopt her or someone else?? We provide the vet care and supplies; you provide the love and save a life!!
