Our History...

South Carolina Association of Licensed Trades began as the SC Heat Pump Association in 1989. The original concept was created by the major utilities in the state, at the time they wanted to help educate consumers on value of heat pumps as the preferred choice of “HVAC” engine for homes in South Carolina.

Soon, the leadership saw the need to add a contractor’s perspective to its planning and strategy sessions. Transitions included a name change to SC Association Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors and to develop a leadership model which includes contractors from the association’s local chapters. In 2020, the organization opened its membership to HVAC, Plumbing and electrical contractors.
