Your gonna wanna get your hands on some Cardone this holiday season🌱✨🎄
Cardone looks similar to celery however this Italian specialty is similar to artichoke hearts. It is not eaten raw but can be boiled and then used in soups, salads and our favorite way-fried! Check out our recipe to fried cardone below!

https://jmarchinifarms.com/recipes/fried-cardone

A brief history of Cardone:

Cardone evolved around the rim of the Mediterranean Sea where people have eaten it for hundreds of years, but Roman gardeners are thought to be responsible for taming this thistle into a garden vegetable. As an Italian tradition, Cardone is often a part of a Christmas or Easter feast.

Joe’s Premium highlight: Fennel🌱✨
Did you know fennel is an ancient seasonal herb?
The Fennel plant is a native to the Mediterranean area. Although it is originally from Europe, it is also cultivated in many parts of North America and in Asia. Ancient Greek athletes ate Fennel seed to gain strength, and to stave off hunger during fasting periods as it does not increase one’s weight. The Romans cultivated Fennel for its aromatic fruits as well as for its edible shoots.
Now fennel can be enjoyed fresh, added to salads or baked and sautéed. Check out some of the ways you can use it:

Radicchio, she’s feisty 🤩
Being California Farmers we’ve had one of the most difficult growing seasons in history. Challenges we experienced this winter are extreme cold weather creating quality issues + low yields and excess rains that delayed our spring plantings. We appreciate all of our industry customers and radicchio enthusiasts/ consumers who support us and we promise brighter days are ahead ☀️

They say a photo is worth 1000 words but these photos are worth so much more.
It is with a heavy heart to share that our founder, Joe (Giuseppe) Marchini, passed away on December 28th, 2022. Joe left an impression on everyone that he met; his smile, big personality and zest for life were hard to forget.
Joe’s life was filled with farming, family, his faith and of course a lot of fun a long the way. Joe adored his family and took pride in his Italian roots in which food, family and faith were in the center. His hard work, determination and innovative spirit were a key part to the success of J. Marchini Farms, Joe’s Premium.
Joe will always be remembered for his local community involvement as an innovator and for his contributions in the agricultural industry. His legacy will live on through J. Marchini Farms and we will continue to make him proud🤍 We love you Joe Man, thank you for everything!
