This month, 20 Global Sustainability Project students are hard at work on local service projects. Dana Hills High students are establishing a restoration, research and education zone to study the effects of drought on native plants at UC Irvine’s Ecological Preserve. Edison High students are collecting data on local aquatic organisms and assessing levels of micro-plastic debris in the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve. Both groups will embark on an expedition to South Africa this summer and contribute to university research on endangered white rhinos after completing 40 hours on the above efforts this school year.
