At just shy of 3 years old Jewel has filled out nicely. She is the perfect girl. She always has my back and is always eager to please me. Today we did some training outside and our regular UPS driver came right up to the gate and she was the perfect little lady. He said how nice itās been watching her grow over the last three years. He couldnāt believe how perfectly she heeled next to me and sat patiently while he handed me a package through the fence and talked for a couple minutes. Thanks to Dog Training by Vanessa for getting her and I on track with training from the beginning.
Very important for us all to know how to save our fur-babies.

Iām getting over a cold. So, if anyone has called or text recently and didnāt receive a reply. Iām now available and feeling much better. Even being sick I still have little time for being down. So, here are some pics of Koko, Bella Nova, Jewel & Ace from the last week. Have a great rest of your week everyone!
Ace loves Jewel! He could care less about Koko and Bella Nova. He is inseparable from Miss Jewel. Thank goodness he is fixed. lol!
Dog pampering day with Dinah. Bella Nova and Jewel hopped right up for their nails to be Dremeled. Koko has decided she no longer wants her nails done in the van but was good to be done on the ground. She is eight years old and we didnāt push her to go in the van. We want to make it as comfortable as possible.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! We celebrated with our boys. Saw some beautiful fireworks and enjoyed pizza. I also had a phone conversation with my grandpup Ace. He is such a cutie!
As the 4th of July nears please take moment to prepare. All of our pups come with Microchips inserted by our licensed vet before they go home. Please make sure you registered their microchips. It does no good without being registered.
Be safe, have fun and be courteous.
We are firm believers in nail care. Here are some nail care tips that may help you achieve proper nail trimmings. All of our past pups should be use to the Dremel and tolerate it just fine as long as past pup families kept up on it. It is part of our whelping routine from roughly weeks 3-8 weeks old. Itās never too late to start pushing the nails back. If theyāve gotten too long, just do a little bit at a time until you have the results youāre looking for. We do our girls weekly to maintain healthy nails. š š¾ā¤ļø
Keeping your dog's nails trimmed is crucial for their comfort and health. Long nails can lead to pain, difficulty walking, and other health issues. Here's a simple guide to help you trim your Doberman's nails safely and effectively!
Step-by-Step Guide to Nail Trimming:
1. Gather Your Supplies:
š¹ Nail clippers or a nail grinder specifically designed for dogs
š¹ Styptic powder or cornstarch (in case of any accidental bleeding)
š¹ Treats for positive reinforcement
2. Get Your Doberman Comfortable:
š¹ Find a quiet, well-lit area.
š¹ Gently handle your Doberman's paws regularly to get them used to the sensation.
š¹ Have someone help you if your dog is anxious or moves around a lot.
3. Identify the Quick:
š¹ The quick is the pink area inside the nail where the blood vessels and nerves are located. Avoid cutting into this area.
š¹ For black nails, trim small amounts until you see a black dot in the center of the nailāthis indicates you are near the quick.
4. Trim the Nails:
š¹ Hold the paw firmly but gently.
š¹ Cut a small portion of the nail at a 45-degree angle. It's better to trim a little at a time to avoid cutting the quick.
š¹ If using a grinder, smooth the edges after clipping.
5. Reward Your Dog:
š¹ Praise and give your Doberman a treat after each nail is trimmed to create a positive association.
6. Handle Accidents Calmly:
š¹ If you accidentally cut the quick, apply styptic powder or cornstarch to stop the bleeding. Comfort your dog and try again later.
Tips for Success:
š¹ Trim nails regularly to prevent them from getting too long.
š¹ Make nail trimming a part of your routine to keep your Doberman accustomed to it.
š¹ Stay calm and patient; your dog will pick up on your energy.
If you're unsure or uncomfortable doing it yourself, consult your vet or a professional groomer.

He is a 2 year & 4 month old red and rust Doberman Pinscher, Whiskey, seeks an experienced owner. This well-mannered, house-trained, and crate-trained gentleman is eager to please and thrives with positive reinforcement training. Whiskey is best suited for a home with older children (10+) and a fenced-in yard. While cat-friendly, he prefers the company of calm, neutral female large dogs if another canine companion is desired. Small dogs and hyperactive pups are not a good fit.
Whiskey is currently completing training and will be available for adoption soon. An experienced owner committed to ongoing training is recommended to ensure his success. If you're looking for a loving, loyal Doberman ready for an active lifestyle, Whiskey could be your perfect match.
Contact Salt Dragon Farm & Canine Behavior to learn more about Whiskey and the adoption process.

Good morning! Our hearts are truly broken and weāre so sorry to inform you that Jewel is not pregnant. We were so excited for her first litter but it was not her time. The body truly knows best for whatever reason she didnāt take. We even timed everything perfectly down to progesterone tests and AI breeding. We will rebreed her on her next heat cycle around December. We did a home relaxin blood test yesterday on her because of not having clear results on two separate ultrasounds. Jewelās tummy started to go back down and we had to know for sure. This has lead us to believe she had either a false pregnancy or she was pregnant and her pups were absorbed. We saw something when we did the ultrasound up higher both times but werenāt 100%. We are thinking that what we did see was the absorbed puppies up higher than normal. It just wasnāt her time. The body knows best. So, hopefully weāll have better luck next time. Our sincere apologies for those waiting patiently and for those whom we have spoken with and have been so kind and willing to wait for her next breeding. You all are appreciated more than you know. I know that when she does produce puppies they will be worth the wait.
These are recent photos of Jewel. She has clearly put on weight. Last pic was right before breeding.
Please PM us if you have any questions.
So, you say you want a Doberman?

Happy Pawtherās Day to all the Dadās out there! Hope you had a wonderful day and are cherished always!
Today I got to visit with Jen, Gaige and also a very handsome and sweet past pup named Whiskey. He was from our 1st litter. I was so happy to see him and he was so loving and well mannered. He reminded me so much of his daddy.
The boys loved seeing him!
Love this boy! š¤

Jewel pregnancy update:
Well, we tried again to get a good ultrasound. Jewel went on an empty tummy and she went potty just prior to the ultrasound. Her organs were in the way as well. Jenn and I both still think we saw something several times that looks very suspicious but still donāt have a definitive pregnancy confirmation. What we are seeing is up higher and that is common for a lot of first time mamaās. We are between 37-40 days at this point based on the dates she bred to Versailles. So, we have decided weāre going to wait until around 60 days to get an X-ray if we still believe she is pregnant. By then we should see more pregnancy signs and be able to get a puppy count. Weāre sorry to keep you all on your toes but we are also on ours too. If by chance she didnāt take we will re-breed at her next heat cycle which would be around December 2024. We appreciate your patience during this time.

"D-Day was the name given to the June 6, 1944, invasion of the beaches at Normandy in northern France by troops from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries during World War II. France, at the time, was occupied by the armies of N**i Germany, and the amphibious assaultācodenamed Operation Overlordālanded some 156,000 Allied soldiers on the beaches of Normandy by the end of the day." - History.com
The photo below is often mistaken for the landing at Normandy; however, it is actually a photo from the Pacific where the USMC War Dog Platoons were exclusively deployed. The 1st War Dog Platoon had their own D-Day on November 1, 1943 at Bougainville.
