We're excited to share that the Contra Costa County Administration Building and Jail Demolition & Redevelopment Project (CCC ADR) has reached substantial completion! This three-story administration building and outdoor plaza is more than a construction achievement; it's a community revitalization effort. Formerly an asbestos-filled 1960s office tower and condemned jail from the early 1900s, CCC ADR will now house various county departments including the Sheriff’s department, Contra Costa Television department, Public Defender, Law Library, and more in a modern, amenity-rich admin building.
This One Webcor project was delivered by Webcor Builders (core & shell), Concrete, Carpentry, and Drywall and is currently on track to receive True Certification for Zero Waste. Thank you to Contra Costa County, Perkins&Will, Tipping Structural, MIG, and KPFF for your outstanding partnership in bringing this vital community-driven project to life!

Another milestone down at SF Water, Power, Sewer (SFPUC)'s Biosolids Digester Facilities Project (BDFP), an MWH/Webcor joint venture in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood! Webcor Concrete celebrated topping out Building 600 with—of course—a traditional Webcor BBQ skillfully grilled by our very own Webcor Craft grillmaster, Patrick Haley. Congrats to the Building 600 team on 16,000 cubic yards poured, 160,000 SF of wall cast/stripped, and over 150,000 hours worked to date!

It's official: Verde, formerly known as Mission Rock Parcel F, has received its temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO)! Nestled in the heart of San Francisco's rapidly growing Mission Rock SF neighborhood, Verde will offer expertly crafted residential units overlooking spectacular views of China Basin's new waterfront park and the San Francisco Giants' home stadium (Oracle Park), as well as ample amenity/retail space. Congratulations to our amazing Outreach and Partnerships Manager, Sharla Sullivan, on being selected as an Engineering News-Record-ACE Mentor Program of America 2024 Outstanding Mentor! Last month, Sharla was recognized alongside four other Outstanding ACE Mentors for their exemplary contributions to ACE students, fellow mentors, and affiliates. From recruiting mentors and students to co-creating and leading the ACE Mentor San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate's Oakland team curriculum, Sharla's devoted the last decade to ensuring the ACE Mentor program inspires the next generation of AEC professionals and instills the same passion for construction that's fueled her incredible career in the industry.
She expressed her sincere gratitude for the support and partnership of her co-leader & school champion, Emiliano Sanchez of Oakland Unified School District; the dedicated mentors who volunteer their time each week; and host site and partner, Cypress Mandela Training Center in Oakland.
In Sharla's honor, ENR has awarded ACE Mentor's San Francisco Bay Area chapter a $2,500 student scholarship to help fund ACE students' pursuit of a higher education degree in an AEC-related field. Congratulations, Sharla!!
Last Friday, NorCal Webcorians took a break from their projects to reconnect over some friendly competition at Douglas Goldman Tennis Center! About 20 project engineers (PEs) gathered at San Francisco's famous Golden Gate Park for a lively morning of pickleball, catching up with their fellow PEs, and meeting PEs from other Webcor projects across the Bay Area. Shout-out to Sr. Project Engineer Maggie Torpey-Murray for organizing such a fun event and bringing so many NorCal PEs back together!
Congratulations to Buhach Colony High School on winning the Team Safety Award (just head of Safety Week!) for best overall safety score at this year's CIEF: Construction Industry Education Foundation Design-Build Competition! The competition was founded nearly 40 years ago by Jim Lambert, the father of Webcor Vice President Mark Lambert. We were honored to partner with BCHS's student team on the design, preparation, and delivery of their submitted project—a 6' X 10' shed built over the course of the two-day competition. Industry professionals judged each student team on their structure's design, construction, code compliance, and safety. Many thanks to Webcor Safety Managers Paulo Muñoz and Kevin Kwit for training these future architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) leaders on proper tool use techniques and construction basics ahead of the competition!
Welcome to Genesis Marina! Webcorians were thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of this premier waterfront life science campus last week with our project partners, including Phase 3 Real Estate, Bain Capital, the City of Brisbane, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Attendees enjoyed self-guided tours of Genesis Marina's beautiful new spaces, delicious samples of items from the GENESIS K+D Marketplace menu, stunning waterfront views, and of course, a celebratory champagne toast to the delivery of this exciting addition to Sierra Point's biotech community! Congratulations to the entire team!
From heat illness awareness and fall protection trainings to candid mental health discussions, Webcorians across NorCal and SoCal celebrated Construction Safety Week with a wide variety of safety-focused activities hosted at their job sites. Although safety is top of mind every day of EVERY week, Safety Week is a valuable opportunity for Webcorians to recommit to Speaking Up for Safety--both physical and psychological--each year. Special thanks to our incredible safety leaders and coordinators for all you do to keep our project teams working safely!
to National Rebuilding Day (NRD), a beloved Rebuilding Together tradition that takes place the last Saturday of April each year! This year's volunteer event benefited Caminar, a nonprofit in-patient substance abuse and mental health services facility for individuals and families. NorCal Webcorians delivered significant interior and exterior upgrades including earthquake-proofing garage pantry shelves, building shelving, repairing and replacing roof/gutters/downspouts, replacing vents, discarding expired canned and packaged food, and trimming overgrown landscaping at Caminar's Redwood City facility.
Special thanks to Project Manager Adrienne Filley for taking the lead and all our team captains—Sr. Project Director Andrew Tranovich, Assistant Project Engineer Alan Luna, Sr. Project Coordinator Jacqueline Myron, Sr. VDC Project Engineer Umang Parikh, and Project Engineer Phillip Anderson—for organizing such a fun and impactful NRD! We're wrapping up this week with a huge shout-out to all the Webcorians who planned their own team/individual Earth Month activities this year! From cleaning up our local beaches to ditching single-use coffee cups, Webcorians found impactful and creative ways to help protect the planet and commit to sustainable habits. Never forget the power of our collective efforts, no matter how small they may seem, to create a better, healthier future for the planet and future generations!
The park is OPEN! Our Mission Rock Horizontal team joined The Port of San Francisco, Tishman Speyer, San Francisco Giants, SCAPE Landscape Architecture, and local dignitaries including San Francisco Mayor London Breed in celebrating the grand opening of China Basin Park at last week's ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located directly across Oracle Park (home of the San Francisco Giants) and McCovey Cove, this spectacular five-acre park offers breathtaking waterfront views in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Mission Rock SF neighborhood. We're honored to have delivered this former parking lot-turned sustainably designed community space for Mission Rock residents, workers, and visitors with all our wonderful project partners!

That's a wrap on Earth Month 2024! To close out this year's activities, NorCal Webcorians organized a volunteer day at Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), where they cleaned and gardened APC's Teen Center facilities. As Alameda's largest supportive housing community, APC provides housing and services for 500+ formerly homeless residents. APC's Teen Center offers valuable enrichment opportunities and activities designed to help students maintain academic grade levels while building social and leadership skills. Thank you to APC for having us, and as we approach the end of Earth Month, let's remember that protecting the environment is an everyday commitment that goes far beyond the month of April 🌏

Happy Earth Month! Our amazing Sustainability team has organized several activities to help Webcorians honor this nationally recognized month and better understand the ways in which we can help protect the planet. This year's plans included an Earth Month-themed volunteer day in Studio City, where LA-area Webcorians spent the morning weeding, pruning, and mulching the half-mile greenway along the LA River to help bolster climate resilience, support habitat creation, and beautify this vital community space. Thank you to TreePeople for partnering with us and continuing to inspire Californians to do their part in protecting the environment!
What would a Webcor Concrete topping out party be without our resident grillmasters? Last week, Webcor Concrete celebrated topping out 730 Stanyan with a mouth-watering BBQ expertly prepared by Webcor Concrete Sr. Superintendent Patrick Haley and Webcor Equipment Superintendent Jorge Equihua. It was a much-deserved celebration of a major milestone for 730 Stanyan—an affordable housing development delivered by Cahill Contractors and Hercules Builders in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Once complete, 730 Stanyan will offer 160 new homes for low-to-moderate-income families and youth residing in the City!
Shout-out to Sr. Director, Business Development Brooke Walbuck for putting Webcor's "community" core value into action while inspiring our future AEC professionals! Last month, Brooke joined a UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design class to speak about the doors her design degree has opened over her 20-year career spanning real estate, architecture, and construction. It was a jam-packed session of insightful conversation about various career paths within the industry, required skills/attributes to excel as an AEC professional after graduation, the business side of construction and design, and much more.
We're thrilled to share that GENESIS Marina is the world's first True Certification for Zero Waste-certified construction project! Unlike other certifications, TRUE focuses exclusively on waste and circular economy principles, setting the most rigorous standard for waste diversion from landfills, incineration (waste-to-energy), and the environment. We secured a 98.4 percent diversion rate, culminating in the award of TRUE Gold in February 2024. View the full press release here: https://www.newsfilecorp.com/release/201647

Over the last year, Webcorians across NorCal and SoCal have given back to their local communities – one of Webcor’s five core values guiding our everyday decisions in the workplace – using our Community Engagement (formerly 1:1:1) program. An integral component of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment, the Community Engagement program offers full-time employees paid time off to volunteer in their communities, often at local food banks, schools, and mentorship organizations. From packaging hygiene kits for our unhoused neighbors on LA's Skid Row to preparing nutritious meal boxes for those facing food insecurity in San Francisco, Webcorians have found plenty of ways to enrich their communities and support the health and wellness of their neighbors!
