James Dubé, PharmD, a retired specialist in chronic pain management, died July 24. He was 87. Dr. Dubé spent 34 years at UNMC, including 17 years as director of pharmacy, and was a key player in developing the clinical pharmacy curriculum.

Exciting News!

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the establishment of a new Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) degree program at the UNMC College of Pharmacy. Pending final approval, the program is expected to enroll an inaugural class of 10 new students for fall 2025, with projected incoming classes growing to 36 new students a year.

UNK & UNMC recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Rural Health Education Building, a cutting-edge facility that will grow the state’s rural health care workforce and help communities thrive. Upon completion in late 2025, the facility will allow UNMC to expand the presence of its allied health and nursing programs in Kearney while launching new programs to train physicians, pharmacists and public health professionals. In total, more than 300 students will be able to train here beginning in 2026.
