What if the first thing you do after you wake up in the morning is giving thanks for a new day, for a new opportunity to be alive, one to share your most precious authentic self with those around you?🙏❤️

Appreciating the little things in life, seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary and being thankful for it, is one of the best practices you can incorporate to improve the quality of your life. It’s a habit that grows stronger with use and practice.

Dare to practice it every day, all day, and you’ll see that it will change the way you perceive the world, making it a safe, loving, fair world, for you and me.

Backbends are a great way to counteract the way we, or at least the majority of us, hold our bodies when standing or sitting throughout the day, mostly hunched over our phones🤳🏻, at hour desks 🖥️, or while we perform our daily activities in general.

When we practice them (backbends), we open up the front of our bodies as we engage the muscles in the back side of our bodies, strengthening both at the same time. For that reason they are a great option for those who suffer from back pain 😣specially in the lower back area.

I post a few basic backbend yoga poses, some that require less range of motion some that require more, although there are much more (i.e. locust pose, puppy pose, cow pose, seal) and you can even add a backbend variation to pretty much any other asana. They all are beneficial as long as you practice them mindfully and respecting your own limitations.

Remember to breathe 😮‍💨 softly and allow your breath to guide you. If you’re feeling like you’re holding your breath or it gets short, evaluate the possibility of slowly releasing the pose.

I hope this was helpful and inspired you to include some backbends into your daily routine, or to appreciate them more if you’re already doing them🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️.

Alignment in yoga has a purpose. Mainly, that can get all the benefits from a pose without hurting yourself.🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️

Always do them mindfully, without going beyond your limits and modifying them as you need to. That's why it's important to listen carefully to your body without judging it, and if you're not sure how to do it, always consult with a certified yoga teacher who can guide you.

Remembering that it is not about doing the “perfect” pose, but rather the one that feels good to you.

And I couldn't let the day go by without paying tribute to a practice that has given me so much: self-awareness, inner peace, confidence, and both mental and physical strength, balance, and flexibility, just to name a few.

Thank you to all the teachers that have imprinted on me the love for yoga, as well as to my fellow practitioners and students. You all inspire me to keep following this journey, which is nothing less than the journey of the heart.

If you are craving sushi 🍱 I can tell you that you can make it yourself!!😃

This sushi cake tastes like the real thing and it takes no time to make it. Most importantly it’s made out with real wholesome ingredients, nutrient rich, tasty and fun!🥳

Here’s how I made it:
—> Prepped my sushi rice. Added 1 tablespoon of sugar disolved in 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mixed it in. Let it cool.

—> Prepped my salmon, cutting it in little cubes, and tossing it with a sauce that I made with tamari, rice vinegar, fresh ginger, scalions and a little maple syrup. Added some fresh ripe mango that I had, also cut in cubes and some shelled edamame.

—> Covered a square cake pan with wax paper, and extended one layer of sushi rice with my hands wet, one layer of cucumbers thinly sliced, one of avocado, one of the salmon mixture, and finished with rice, and garnished with toasted sesame seeds, some sliced jalapeño and chopped scalions (the green part).

Served it with a fresh kale salad with pickled ref onions and radishes. Also drizzled somo more tamari on top.

It will please even the most picky crouds, including your kids. Well, I can tell you that this one pleased mine😉

And, if possible aim for organic, sustainable, good quality ingredients that are both good for you and the planet. 🌱🌎

These chocolate-chip cookies will surprise you with how easy and how delicious they are… Seriously, they are to die for!! In addition, they are rich in protein and good fats, and no refined sugars added.

A success for all of my fellow sweet tooth people who want something on the healthier side but still delicious and for those who prefer to avoid grains, also if you opt for plant based foods.

You have to make them!! They won’t disappoint you!!

Here’s the recipe:

For 9 cookies I used:
¼ cup tahini (sesame cream)
2 tbsp coconut oil
½ cup coconut sugar
1 tsp. vanilla essence
¼ cup non-dairy milk
1 cup of almond flour
1 scoop of vanilla plant-based protein (or ¼ cup of oat flour)
½ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. of salt
½ cup dark chocolate chips

In a large mixing bowl beat all the ingredients on medium speed with an electric mixer until you get that desired cookie dough-like consistency, except for the chocolate chips that you add last.

With an ice cream scoop dispense the dough, form balls and flatten them slightly on a tray with waxed or silicone paper.

Let them cool in the fridge for half an hour.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Put the tray in the oven for 15 minutes.

Take out the tray from the oven and let cool them cool for about 15 minutes before removing them from the tray.

It takes a lot of courage to show yourself up as you are, raw, vulnerable, authentic, and the only way to attain true happiness. It won’t keep you away of trouble, but it will give you the certainty that the people who’s around you will love you, respect you and admire you for for who you are, and will want to stick with you, flaws and all. For me that’s peace and it’s worth it.

The start of Summer reminds us to turn inward and find the nourishment needed to grow and evolve, just like the Sun rises up to us every single day, and inspire others, to be the light finding meaning in our journey, even when it seems uncertain, even if we go through some troubled times, those are the times we develop faith in our life, squashing the darkness with light, and trusting that just like the Sun, we will rise each day no matter what life brings us. Following the rhythm of nature, taking time to pause and then taking action like new beginnings transition into a period of uncertainty, sometimes taking a leap of faith, trusting that there’s hope in the world, that everything is going to be OK.

In yoga, as in life you have to come up against obstacles, and at the end of the day, you gotta go through it all. Trying to do our best, managing this journey across the deeper levels of ourselves, getting to know ourselves, growing, evolving so we can be the most authentic version of ourselves which ultimately is the best version of us, right? Not an easy task, but it’s worth the try. Like I always say, always be you, everybody else is taken.

Practicing Yoga has helped me not just in getting more flexible and stronger in my physical body, but it has calmed down my mind, feeling more present and less reactive, making me me feel more grounded and centered, among other wonderful things… I’m so grateful for it!!🙏🏼🙏🏼

This bowl turned out so good that had to share it with you!😋

So simple, yet so nutritious and honestly, so good to be good!!! And it can last in the fridge for a couple more days, so make enough so you cook one day and eat 2-3 days!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼 ⏰😋

For the hummus: blend together until smooth 1 cup of cooked chickpeas/garbanzo beans, 1 garlic clove, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 Tbsp Tahini, 1 Tbsp olive oil. Then sprinkle some paprika on top when serving.

For the kale salad: massage your kale with a splash of lemon juice and olive oil and a pich of salt, then add chopped figs and nuts on top.

For the bean salad: one cup of cooked canellini beans or any other you have, mixed with 3/4 cup of cooked quinoa, chopped veggies such as celery, red onion, roasted peppers, parsley, and a simple dressing made out of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper and a lil honey or maple syrup.

Ridiculously easy, you have to try it!!

You’re not alone. We ALL are vulnerable, flawed and we ALL struggle to live the best we can.
Not everything is about happiness and having good moments in life. Discomfort and pain are also part of it, and they’re necessary to progress and growth. It’s not about lingering and holding on into negative emotions, but rather about being honest with yourself, acknowledging and owning them, and then taking the steps necessary to move through them .

Also, don’t be so hard on yourself. Makings mistakes is part of the human condition. Being aware of them is the first step, then learning from them and making changes for the better is the wisest thing to do, being humble and brave enough to ask for forgiveness if necessary.
