Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you....the Soxhlet Extractor! A simple little apparatus originally intended to extract oils from natural materials (like tree bark, for instance) which I am using to extract phytonutrients, terpenes, and a host of other plant and resin-borne chemicals that make up the chemically active constituents on herbal remedies. Good news yall! I can't bill your insurance for my products but it is likely that you can use your FSA/HSA to be reimbursed for purchases of "dietary supplements". It's easy! This, my inaugural post as the sole employee and owner of Fork in the Road Medicinals, will serve as not just an intro to FITRM, but also to the ecosystem of interconnected and interdependent businesses that I am in the process of launching.

FITRM is the first in a series of launches that run the gamut from herbal apothecary to farm to restaurant and an academy to learn all of the above. This first business is based on the principle that natural remedies create wellness within your body, thereby helping clear the way for wellness within the mind and spirit.

I truly believe this.

I was skeptical of all those little bottles of overpriced liquids at the "hippie store" yet someone recommended I try a few. I did and man was I blown away. The herb that stated 'mental clarity and focus' as it's chief effect..made me feel clear and focused. The herb used to treat depression..lessened my depression and made it possible for me to consistently get out of bed every day.

Pretty soon I found myself out in the woods harvesting willow bark, or in a wetland plucking horsetail out of the mud. (Both of these do exactly what they told me they would do, BTW). I now have 18 Formulas and single herb extracts working plus 6 already finished. My products range from calmatives that mimic and replace benzodiazepines, to one that is the source of salicylic acid aka aspirin. I have one that I blended specifically for people with compromised or overactive immune systems, as well as another that I am currently working on that I hope will be able to help with erectile dysfunction.

All of my products come without the nasty side effects associated with opiates and benzos and other classifications of pharmaceuticals. Every one of my products is sourced to support businesses that are owned by women and/or people of color, or in one instance, a refugee family.
