BREAKING NEWS: In the past 24 hours we have had two new churches call to say they are going to start partnering with us financially to support the work of Public Servants' Prayer ! We could not do what we do in the political arena without you!
If anyone is looking for a place to contribute for we would be honored to receive that gift.
I cannot say enough about how thankful I am for this team! We are excited about the future!
On October 1st, 2021, Chaplain Matthew Barnes gave the invocation at the final day of a two week short session to draw district maps in the Indiana House of Representatives. Here is the text of the prayer based on Psalm 1 -
"Heavenly Father, we are gathered here today to finalize a legislative process that was delayed by reasons outside of our control.
I personally don't like it when things are out of my control, yet it occurs often.
This afternoon, we recognize that You are always in control, You will never cede power, and You will reign forever.
So we invoke Your presence, and invite Your guidance.
Help us to seek good and wise counsel and to sit in the seat of the humble. As we decide on the laws of Indiana, may we first look to Your law, for your law is perfect.
As we acknowledge Your jurisdiction, may our state prosper and flourish - from the amber waves of grain being harvested at the moment, to the priceless treasure of our youth who are growing and maturing across Indiana.
As the combine cuts the plant and deposits the grain in the bin, it also spits out the plant and the chaff. Father, help us to produce the healthy fruit, and discard the unnecessary.
Today, we bless your name and desire to honor you and our fellow citizens by serving well.
It is in Christ's name that I pray, amen."
