Tetra Tech will support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division with architectural and engineering services to design a new 1,200-foot navigation lock on the Illinois River.

The new lock will be twice as long as the existing lock system which will:
• Reduce wait times by more than 70%
• Accommodate larger vessels
• Improve mariner safety

Tetra Tech will support the U.S. Army Huntsville Center to remove and replace aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) containing per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from fire suppression systems at installations throughout the United States.

Our teams will safely identify, recover, evaluate, assess, decontaminate, and dispose of AFFF containing PFAS. We’ll evaluate innovative technologies, including Tetra Tech’s proprietary PFAScrub® cleaning agent and performance verification methods, to minimize cross contamination from legacy AFFF systems.

We look forward to using our approach to help keep our servicemembers safe and prevent future environmental contamination and cleanup.

Photo from the Field: Through the support of USAID's Clean Cities, Blue Ocean program, our team helped address ocean plastic pollution by piloting this user-friendly plastic compactor with community members in a women-led, recyclable waste-to-cash network in Manila, Philippines.

Tetra Tech will support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to improve communities in the Great Lakes region by accelerating environmental clean-up of contaminated sediment sites to reduce risk to human health and the environment.

Our work will support EPA Region 5 and the Great Lakes National Program Office to assess the extent of contamination and develop, evaluate, and select remedial and habitat restoration strategies.

Tetra Tech teams will use our approach to develop site assessments and feasibility studies, collect and analyze data, and design innovative solutions to promote sustainable ecosystems at a watershed scale.

The work of LEADR is important to both Tetra Tech and the industry at large that will benefit from these current and future innovators.

Ruth Martinez is a staffing specialist and part of our Voces Employee Resource Group (ERG). She supports and manages international candidate relationships with proposal teams for new business bids.

Ruth says, “Voces ERG contributes to an inclusive working environment by providing opportunities to connect with employees with a similar background or interest. I think it’s important for Tetra Tech to have an ERG for Latino/Hispanic employees to continue building a community to learn from each other’s experiences.”
