The stages of a succulent leaf propagation. I’m often asked what I do to propagate my plants from leaves, the answer is… Not much of anything 😂 Mother Nature does all the work. Once it looks like the leaf is dead, I plant it. 🪄 TA DA!

Not every bloom gets attacked by aphids. 😍
During bloom season I check my succulents every other day, if not daily, for pests. More often than not, my blooms will be infested with aphids. It’s nothing I’m doing wrong, the little suckers are just attracted to the blooms, so they MUST be clipped off. ✂️
Pests also like the new babies that sprout this time of year. My cure all is diluted isopropyl alcohol, or if I’m out of that I will use vodka (same difference in my opinion. 😂).
Look out for snails eating your plants this time of year too! I like using SLUGGO because it’s non toxic to pets and other wildlife, especially our precious pollinators. 🐝🦋
Happy Friday, and thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. 💚

My Story

My name is Erin Pirie and I am The Sociable Succulent! My obsession with these plants started when my husband and I bought our first home in Citrus Heights, California. Looking for a way to make the outside of our fixer upper more attractive, I was drawn to the idea of a drought tolerant garden, due to the fact that everything else I planted seemed to die in the California heat. I received a couple of succulents in a pot as a gift and I started researching them more and more. I pulled the arrangement out of the pot and stuck it in the ground and thus began my first succulent garden. It didn’t take long for them to start multiplying at a rate that I couldn’t keep them all. (Trust me, I tried.) I just couldn’t bring myself to throw any of my overgrown succulents away, so I started making arrangements for friends and neighbors. Following in the footsteps of my mom, who is very crafty lady, I decided to try my hand at selling my creations at local fairs, festivals, and craft shows. I started this page as way to share my work, and also build a community of succulent lovers. I hope to share lots of tips, tricks, and other fun tid-bits about succulents here, and I hope others will too! Cheers!
