In honor of Women’s History Month, we pay our respects to the pioneers of women in dentistry!

Emeline Roberts Jones had already established herself as the first woman to practice dentistry in the United States by tending to the teeth of numerous residents of northeastern Connecticut in the years prior to the Civil War. In a career that spanned six decades, Emeline Roberts Jones received numerous awards and honors. In 1893, she served on the Woman’s Advisory Council of the World’s Columbian Dental Conference. She was elected to the Connecticut State Dental Society in 1883, and in 1914, she was made an honorary member of the National Dental Association.

Is the way you bite down important? 🤔

Yes! Absolutely it is! It’s just as important as straightening your teeth. 🤯

Abnormalities in the bite can cause more than just TMJ and a headache! It effects your ability to eat and chew, it can disrupt pronunciation and can even cause premature wear from additional pressure in odd areas! Good news! There are ways to tell when your bite just isn’t right!

Pick a color, any color 😜

Did you know, these color ties, or even the brackets are NOT what moves your teeth?! 🤯🤯🤯

These color ties and brackets, though essential to your treatment, don’t move your teeth in the way you may think. The color ties are there to hold your wire in it’s place and make sure it’s fully engaged into the bracket! The wires do all of the work in moving teeth! When you come in for a “tightening”, the soreness you may feel comes from advancement or adjustment in your wires!

What color would you pick??

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month,
commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Community Water Fluoridation Program!

❄️

Did you know that the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children see an Orthodontist no later than the age of 7? It’s not always easy to tell when your child has an orthodontic problem. Even teeth that look straight may be hiding an unhealthy bite! Well aligned teeth not only look and feel good, but, they contribute to good oral health and the ability to speak!

❄️

Our consultations are always complimentary, and its never too early for their first orthodontic check up!
